thekaleb··on Show HN: Ng-classy – Use Angular 1 and ES6 with ease
They haven't even standardized if they are to behave like python decorators or c# annotations.
thekaleb··on Basic CSS Terms
This is nice. I would add "Declaration block" for everything in (and including) the curlies. I would also add "Declaration" for the combination of a declaration property with its declaration rule.
thekaleb··on React and Angular Meeting
what was the context and purpose of this meeting?
thekaleb··on What Happens When You Try to Photoshop Money
I wonder how it would work if I had a t-shirt with this constellation watermark on it.

thekaleb··on Why Waze is so popular in Costa Rica (2014)
There is return on investment even if it is not monetarily. Users or reCAPTCHA or Duolingo also do work for for-profit companies as well.

From the article:

> “Some people ask ‘Why do you work for free? Why do you spend so many hours a week doing this mapping?’ ” Hidalgo said. “You feel good about knowing that the people who drive around everyday save time because you are investing your time in fixing the roads and doing this mapping.”

It's also funny for American programmers in another way altogether.

thekaleb··on Coder's Rights Project – Reverse Engineering FAQ
Were any successfully prosecuted?
thekaleb··on Why do we need modules at all? (2011)
I use requirejs for module loading and for my personal projects try to limit each module to a single function. Contrived example:

    define('object/clone', ['object/each'], function(each) {
        /**
         * Shallow copy objects
         *
         * @param {object} - object from which to copy properties
         * @return shallow copy of `obj`
         */
        return function(obj) {
            var clone = {};
            each(obj, function(key, value) {
                clone[key] =  value;
            });
            return clone;
        };
    });

thekaleb··on Introducing Ampersand.js
Or even Google Closure JavaScript.
thekaleb··on CNBC accidentally outs Apple CEO Tim Cook
I usually come to HN for insightful and interesting news and content. This submission disappoints. I would not even call this news.
thekaleb··on Structs and ImmutableStructs
This will work with pass-by-value primitives, but not pass-by-reference objects unless the getter re-creates the object for every get action.
thekaleb··on Snowden’s First Move Against the NSA Was a Party in Hawaii
There has not been a single shred of evidence about this claim which is an attempt to discredit his motives.

Here is the article mentioning this claim: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:1cwq_2e...

thekaleb··on Famo.us open to everyone
There definitely are some accessibility issues especially for those with limited mobility where using the arrow keys is a necessity.
thekaleb··on Nested task lists
This is a nice update. The syntax is how I would have expected it to be.
thekaleb··on Tmux 1.9 released
Thank you! I did not know about the source-file command. I've been writing shell scripts, instead. You have just changed my entire work-flow!
thekaleb··on Why do web browsers use such bad languages?
Just some complaining about JavaScript and CSS, move along.
thekaleb··on Arthur Chu Is Playing Jeopardy the Right Way
If he picks the first row, it also allows his opponents to understand the category. By going after the Daily Doubles, he is insuring that his opponents do not get them.
thekaleb··on hr for your terminal
And now it works in the bourne shell!
thekaleb··on Why Dynamic Typing Is A Bad Idea
Strong typing zealots?
thekaleb··on A game to learn a new language
For anybody that is interested, these are the languages the website has:

- GB: British English

- ES: Spanish

- DE: German

- FR: French

- US: US English

- JP: Japan

- IT: Italian

- RU: Russian

- PL: Polish

It also seems to have a bonus polyglot "language".

thekaleb··on Asusgate: A story about thousands of crimeless victims
I was wondering the same thing. His website[1] and the Wikipedia article[2] about him don not mention anything about his interest in network security. But he does seem to closely guard his personal life.

thekaleb··on Man uses first-class ticket for year’s worth of free meals
This was found to be unverifiable.
thekaleb··on Overstock.com Is Now Accepting Bitcoins
Like gold, BTC has scarcity, but unlike gold, it has no intrinsic value. I do, however, value my Bitcoins.
