This is not true. There is a big difference between a capacitive and active stylus. You must have your screen support an active sounds stylus.
thekaleb··on Ask HN: What is your favorite Tech Podcasts these days?
I haven't really used the Apple podcasts website before but apparently I can find it there.
thekaleb··on Ask HN: What is your favorite Tech Podcasts these days?
I could not figure out how to subscribe to software unscripted with a regular podcast application. I don't see an RSS feed anywhere.
thekaleb··on Pandoc 3.0
Pandoc is written in Haskell.
thekaleb··on Amazon set to begin new round of layoffs affecting over 18,000 people
This aligns incentives.
thekaleb··on Show HN: Annotate PDFs in Markdown
Are there any plans to expand the narrow platform support?
thekaleb··on How I Use Notion
In what ways?
thekaleb··on Ransomware gang threatens release of Washington D.C. police records
You used to not be able to get a security clearance if you were a homosexual because you could be blackmailed. That's stricture has been dropped and that specific thing is no longer an issue mostly.
thekaleb··on An oral history of the hamburger icon (2019)
On many Android apps I can long press an icon and get a tooltip.
thekaleb··on An ex-FBer's take on the tech apocalypse
I have not completed the video but an initial thought is, this seems to be another take on what the heck happened in 1971.
thekaleb··on A legislative path to an interoperable internet
As far as I understand it gab does use open protocols.
thekaleb··on A legislative path to an interoperable internet
A quick Google search shows that iMessage does have the prerequisite 100 million active users.
thekaleb··on A Requiem for a Dying Operating System (1994)
One of my favorite features of plan9 is how it handles the bin directory.

For one, you can have sub-directories inside the bin directory. This lends to a nice hierarchy of commands and encourages writing small single purpose commands instead of large monolith commands. An example of this is the `ip/ping` command.

Another feature uses the union file system which prevents me from having to mess with $PATH locating commands.

thekaleb··on Moreutils – Unix tools that nobody thought to write (2012)
ts seems to fit the Unix philosophy of do one thing and do one thing well quite nicely. It works pretty well for writing to logs.
thekaleb··on Show HN: Starboard – Fully in-browser literate notebooks like Jupyter Notebook
Have you tried the import expression as opposed to the import statement?

E.G. const foo = await import('foo.js');

thekaleb··on Lincos language
When trying to convey the length of time for a second how does one account for Doppler shift?
thekaleb··on Front End Interview Handbook
I think that it would be good for this to have questions about HTTP as well, such as status codes, caching, and content negotiation.
thekaleb··on The Beauty of Unix Pipelines
Some shells handle this quoting better than others.
thekaleb··on 18-year-old personal website, built with Frontpage and still updated
This one is mobile friendly as well.
thekaleb··on Org-Mode Is One of the Most Reasonable Markup Languages to Use for Text (2018)
I would point out this as the standard without GitHub extensions: https://commonmark.org
thekaleb··on Future JavaScript: what is still missing?
I only bring up the prototype to determine if I would classify the interviewee as a senior JavaScript developer or not.
thekaleb··on English is not normal
> almost all European languages belong to one family – Indo-European – and of all of them, English is the only one that doesn’t assign genders that way.

Persian is Indo-European and does not assign genders that way either.

thekaleb··on CopperheadOS has imploded
If I pay a photographer for services, the photographer owns the copyright unless we agree otherwise in a contract. If there is no agreement, the creator owns the work.
thekaleb··on Minimal Responsive Grid System
Any CSS framework can be included as namespaced mixins in LESS.
thekaleb··on GitHub is forcing me to change my username, and will not tell me why
I do like the medium.com approach of the usernames as /@username similar to the apache user dirs /~username
thekaleb··on GitHub is forcing me to change my username, and will not tell me why
The username is malware. Github does not namespace user profiles, so the link to the account would be https://github.com/malware . There is no Github user with the name "about". If you go to https://github.com/about it is not a profile page, but a page describing github itself. I assume that github may want to make a page describing malware.
thekaleb··on Opaque Types in Flow and TypeScript
I have come across a need for this in typescript and have used similar approaches as the author. Maybe this is a bad outlook of mine, but I am tending more and more to trusting my tooling over some of my fellow developers.

Is there a recommended place I can search for this?
