the_laka··on Why Doesn't Software Show Up in Productivity?
Low Code and No Code platforms transform the whole premise though. They do make it easy to "show it how to attach a fastener, then walk away".

Too bad, as developers, we scorn those platforms instead of improving them to the point we'd be obsolete.

the_laka··on Warp: Fast, Rust-based terminal (waiting list)
What? You'll suddenly need 5 people to chat about that multiline command you're about to type?
the_laka··on Warp: Fast, Rust-based terminal (waiting list)
Some of the features make it sound dubious. "Real-time collaboration". Why would you bake that in your terminal?
the_laka··on TigerBeetle – A Million Financial Transactions per Second in Zig
That's impressive! A million tps.
the_laka··on GitHub Copilot
I wonder if this can work with any editor out of the box, or it's just going to be VS Code.
the_laka··on Is one vaccine dose enough if you’ve had Covid? What the science says
I wish there was an easier way to figure out if you had COVID.

As someone who's only got one dose so far, I would gladly skip the second one if I knew for certain I had COVID before, so someone else could get my second dose.

the_laka··on Slamming political rivals may be the most effective way to go viral
Shocking discovery. Really. What's next? Sarcasm is the most effective way to be funny? You heard it here first!
the_laka··on Can Northvolt solve Europe’s impending electric car battery problem?
"a former Tesla manager is building a battery factory" - that's it, that was the article.
the_laka··on OpenSSH switches to using gender-neutral language
That was it? 3 instances of singular they?
the_laka··on What Do Exotic Programming Languages and Single-Origin Coffee Have in Common?
I kind o missed a Java reference in there. Perfect pun opportunity.
the_laka··on Non-Bullshit Newsletters
Some of the Protocol newsletters are great as well. Mostly the ones not sponsored by FAANG.
the_laka··on Advice for my younger developer self
All of the points in there were spot on, and the interview ones even more so.
the_laka··on Ask HN: Developer Portal Recommendations
I've used readme.com with mixed results. TBH, wouldn't recommend. It's easy to setup but the cost of maintaining and updating it becomes more and more with every new endpoint. And if you've got a lot of them, it also tends to slow down.

docusaurus.io is the next tool on my list to try out, it looks promising. I think it's better suited for smaller projects, with a lot of things out of the box. I haven't seen an API company using it yet though.

Station is something I've used in the past, because I was working for Nexmo at the time. The team at Nexmo / Vonage won a few awards because of it for the best Developer Portal a few years back. It's open source now, and the cost to setup might be higher than the other two, but a lot of the design decisions make sense for an API portal. It's also super fast once deployed, and that helps a lot with developer perception. https://github.com/Nexmo/station
