I was actually to old. I was 30 when I enrolled. And there was some rule to become TA you must be under 30. It was a long time ago.
taubek··on Ask HN: PhD and Now?
Why did you enroll PhD in the first place? I enrolled my because of my interest in the filed. I was working at uni at that time, but as part of IT staff not professor. I would be happy if I could be the professor, but with no connections and background it is hard.

taubek··on Ask HN: Why are we more and more talking about the past here on HN?
Nostalgia. It is hard to follow all of the new trends. I feel like I'm becoming obsolete. And now with all of the AI hype, who knows what tomorrow brings.

With past, you know what it was, you have a romanticized image about it. At least I do.

taubek··on Ask HN: How to find working distribution channels for my SaaS
I would say, monitor the conversations in those groups, find the pain points for them and see how your SaaS can be used to to solve them. Be honest, don't be pushy, set the real expectations.
taubek··on Ask HN: How to find working distribution channels for my SaaS

taubek··on Ask HN: 70s and 80s were the golden days of computing?
Depend on what you consider to be computing and what are golden days. Computers were not so widely available. In my country only Universities and big companies had them. Magnetic tapes and punch cards were used for data entry. In the 70s there were no personal computers. In 80's Spectrum, Commodore, Amstrad, Amiga, Atari and some other local computer brands entered the schools and homes. Companies were mostly using "dumb terminals".

If you where in computers then and if you worked on them you were possible on the forefront. Internet was still a new thing. Before it we had BBSs as places where we would gather.

Most of the knowledge was in books and magazines. They were hard to obtain.

taubek··on Postgres as a graph database
For some basics of graph modeling take a look at https://memgraph.com/docs/memgraph/tutorials/graph-modeling.

Some differences between SQL and graph databases are covered at https://memgraph.com/blog/graph-database-vs-relational-datab....

taubek··on Postgres as a graph database
I personally prefer native graph databases such as Memgraph[1]. Graph databases have it's advantages and disadvantages. Sometimes you, need RDBMS, sometimes you need NoSQL solution. So I pick my stack based on situation and issue that I need to solve.
