So the usual concerns apply; privacy, copyrights, job losses, and so forth. But then there are the other things such as scams based on voice cloning. Here, it is not only about voice actors, celebrities, and politicians; someone could as easily clone a voice of a law enforcement agent, say.
How is the scraping going on; how much of YouTube, TikTok, Rumble, etc. have already been grabbed?
I saw it. Scary stuff. It is probably going to get a lot worse. For instance, here we have already had plenty of crimes involving crooks pretending to be police officers in phone calls, and they've already been quite successful in fooling elderly people to release their bank credentials, etc.
It reminds me of Uplink videogame "My voice is my passport"...
"Their horses are their livelihood. Now cars could take it away."
Change is the only constant, folks.
I mean, in the case of horses vs cars, they just need to replace one for another, but with AI, like in when self-driving cars are so good and safe that they're safer and more reliable than human drivers, they will disrupt taxi drivers, truck drivers, bus drivers, and so on... and with that new wave of Generative AI / LLMs, it will also impact artists, lawyers, programmers, writers, teachers and so many others...
I am still highly skeptical about the claims regarding lawyers (paralegals perhaps notwithstanding), programmers, and teachers. Hype and technological utopianism are currently at all time high.
