taphangum··on Vinod Khosla: I believe 70% of VCs reduce the potential of a company
Probably closer to 99.99%.
taphangum··on Ask HN: Simple alternative to Google Analytics
No problem man!

Let me know if you ever do, I'll definitely sign up to test it out. Email is in bio if you ever want more feedback - I really like what you're doing. :)

taphangum··on Ask HN: Simple alternative to Google Analytics
Great looking service.

I think your pricing is off though. I was about to sign up right before i saw the variable pricing. I'm not sure why but I'd much rather know exactly how much I'd be spending every month. Even if that means I'll be logically paying more over the long term.

taphangum··on Stop overanalyzing and become the best version of yourself
Very helpful answer, thanks!
taphangum··on April First., I hate it
Amen.
taphangum··on Ask HN: How do you motivate yourself to keep building and finishing projects?
Make it about proving something to yourself. You know that mindset you get into when you're playing a really hard level in a good game? Try channeling that and see if it works, it definitely does for me. :) - One of my projects from two years ago is now worth about $500k.
taphangum··on Ask HN: Am I living in a parallel universe to think my idea is super awesome?
I like the idea, but you need to execute and position much better. Here's a book that will help you do that: http://brainaudit.com/
taphangum··on Ask HN: How to learn sales and online marketing
The best book on marketing that i've ever ready: http://brainaudit.com/
taphangum··on Your best passive income? (2015)
Check out this interview on Mixergy: http://mixergy.com/interviews/lindsay-ostrom-pinch-of-yum-in...

You can pretty much follow what she did step by step (she lays it out pretty much). Her blog does about $20k/month.

taphangum··on Ask HN: The purest skills needed to become a programmer?
Determination to solve problems, and the willingness to stay with them until they are solved.
taphangum··on At 18, I've just launched my first company
great looking site
taphangum··on Ask HN: How do you advertise your new service/app?
Create a Udemy course, with a use case that would clearly need and leverage your app. Offer that course for free on communities like HN, Reddit, etc. Works very well.
taphangum··on How does voice manipulation software work?
Thank you very much for this very thorough answer! You've definitely helped me look in the right direction.
taphangum··on Fuck Shit Up
Cheers bro. Good luck to you in 2015!!!
taphangum··on Ask HN: How much recurring income do you generate and from what?
$1,100 per month from a Udemy course - https://www.udemy.com/building-and-selling-a-niche-website-f...
taphangum··on Ask HN: How do you capture and manage ideas?
Hackpad is pretty sweet.
taphangum··on Ask HN: Your best passive income?
My course does about $1,100 a month on Udemy. I'd recommend it. That said, I would make sure that I had a clear early marketing plan in place beforehand. You can make a pretty decent passive income once you get the ball rolling on there. But you're gonna have to roll it yourself at first.

taphangum··on Ask HN: What was the easiest buck you've made on the web in 2014?
It's definitely worth it if you have the time to do it well. I know one instructor who did $140k in his first month (he did have an audience beforehand though). Feels like a 'goldrushy' time in online education right now. A lot of people don't know this.
taphangum··on Ask HN: What was the easiest buck you've made on the web in 2014?
$1,100 a month from my Udemy course: https://www.udemy.com/building-and-selling-a-niche-website-f....

Once I got it it up and did the first little bit of marketing, it's been literally no work. Maybe 30-45 min a month answering questions, but I wouldn't consider that work. :)

taphangum··on Learning How to Exert Self-Control
Thank you. Articles like this are getting really annoying.
taphangum··on Ask HN: How do you manage ideas, tasks, notes and other stuff?
hackpad
taphangum··on Show HN: How Much Minecraft Made (Minecraft revenue calculations in real-time)
It actually isn't. It pulls in new JSON data every minute.
taphangum··on [dead]
I've had a lot of success sharing my course (for free) on reddit: https://www.udemy.com/building-and-selling-a-niche-website-f....

If your goal is to make sales though, i would just do a lot of podcast interviews/ads within your niche.

taphangum··on Show HN: faces.io – ridiculously simple video chat
Very cool! Upvoted.
taphangum··on Ask HN: What are the best growth hacking tools?
Not open source but Colibri is pretty nice. http://colibri.io.

Also check out http://iwantgrowth.net for potential websites where you can find more resources.

taphangum··on Startups that have bootstrapped their way to profitability
Hey, this looks amazing! Will definitely be using it in future!
taphangum··on Your best passive income? (2014)
LOVE improvely. Actually used it to show conversions on my site, which i recently sold on flippa. Needless to say, it got a very good response: https://flippa.com/2963324-pr-3-app-templates-site-with-10-4....

I'm sure it sent you a good one or two customers too! :)

I've been a subscriber for roughly 6 months and am very happy with the service.

taphangum··on Ask HN: Those making $1,000+/month on side projects - what did you make?
I was making ~$3k/month with http://myapptemplates.com. Recently sold it. Now working on an ad tech startup.
taphangum··on What I’ve learned in 5 years of running a SaaS
You're a good storyteller. Great read.
taphangum··on Ask HN: Making a living selling software components, not SaaS?
Logged in to say this.

As someone who has sold components on Binpress for the past year, and built a successful business (that i have recently sold) with the help of sales generated through their platform. I can vouch for these guys 100%. They are the best in the market for selling code/components. They have the best UI and by FAR the best support. Eran especially who really tries hard to make sure your components are presented well. This is great, especially for developers who do not necessarily know how best to present their work.

I've used a bunch of their competitors and i recommend them too, but if i was told to choose just one place to sell your code. Binpress would be it.
