You seem to be arguing that standards prevent competition. When in fact they cause it to flourish.
Hence are very much key members of MPEG-LA.

Given that licensing isn't broken out or even mentioned in their market conference calls gives you a pretty good indication that it is a pretty insignificant amount.
By all means enlighten me as to a suitable replacement. I think people forget that Google Reader was an API as well as a client.
That said every single blog I've ever seen has a prominent RSS button. But that isn't the reason for lack of widespread adoption. It's more to do with the fact that most people aren't dedicated "read this every day" consumers of lots of different blogs. Generally it's a small handful which isn't what RSS caters for.
And the reason H.264 is successful is not because of its superior quality. It's because MPEG-LA has companies like Apple, Microsoft, Sony, Canon, Nikon which means H.264 is supported from capture to editing to publishing to viewing.
Really, it's just a bit of fun and the best outcome would be to raise some money for women in tech.
Yes. You're doing a wonderful thing to advance the cause of women in technology.I am sure women will be out in droves dying to buy this shirt.
If you are thinking about doing something ask yourself this question, "Would I do this if the CEO of our company was standing next to me".
It really isn't.
Most of us that actually work in a professional environment aren't making crude jokes about sexual topics. And we sure as hell are on our best behaviour at offsite events. Clearly this is a foreign concept to you.
Just because I send two emails from my Gmail account doesn't mean they are related and/or relevant.
Just waiting for the inevitable "this would never happen with PostreSQL" comments to appear.
Given that you're (a) not using it, (b) making judgements based on a series of blog posts, (c) extrapolating bugs that only manifest under specific scenarios, (d) are clearly new to technologies like Apache, ElasticSearch, Git, Redis etc so haven't seen some equally disturbing bugs.
Because that doesn't seem right at all.
Apple may or may not have an official fix. Either way it it takes time for Apple to QA before pushing it out to tens of millions of users.
Want to pop an off-the-shelf SSD into your Air? Not gonna happen.
A typical SSD is larger than the MacBook Air. But you can add third party SSD modules:http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/Aura_Pro_Air_2012
The proprietary screws and integrated battery mean you can't remove the potential to stop the damage before it happens and then clean things up yourself.
You can buy a pentalobe screwdriver for $10 from iFixit or $2 from eBay. You can also buy third party batteries off eBay.I am subscribed to 100+ RSS feeds that have no corollary in Google+ and likely never will.
The facts are that Evernote has in excess of 30M users, with lots of paying users and growing rapidly. There is no evidence that this mythical complexity is affecting adoption.
And I don't see how Google Drive and Evernote are competition. Very different use cases.
And there is no evidence of them selling. It is just FUD.
Google has a well established record now for abandoning projects. Especially those that are free.
It encourages everyone to ignore/bottle up issues until the magical retro day where everyone can spend a couple of hours venting their frustration. At which point nothing gets done and the process repeats. Project issues should be resolved immediately, directly with the people responsible and with actionable outcomes. Not during a glorified weekly/fortnightly 'meeting'.
At the end of the day successful projects happen because of good communication, clear requirements and hard work. No amounts of tricks can save you if you don't have all three.
You don't think he would have been fired for a black or Nazi joke ?
How old are you ? 10 ? Grow up.
Secondly Bob Mansfield is one tough, demanding, ridiculously smart guy who has a long history of delivering. The fact that Kevin Lynch is reporting to him says it all. He is very much on probation and will have his ass handed to him super quickly if he doesn't live up to expectations.
