I'm a big SpaceX fan, nonetheless I am looking forward to some competition for SpaceX. If New Glenn succeeds, it might become a workhorse like Falcon 9/Heavy. And don't forget New Armstrong is the next generation, should be in the works.
All this discussion about HW3 vs HW4 is moot, until Tesla first needs to achieve self-driving with HW4. By self-driving I mean a Waymo like driverless robotaxi (even it is geofenced). Tesla originally upgraded HW2 cars to HW3 in 2020 and now might have to upgrade HW3 to HW4 by 2026 (assuming they can achieve a commercial robotaxi service).
Do you really think that the chance is 50/50? Here are some factors to consider:
1) The difference between popular vote vs electoral vote.
2) Hillary at the same time in 2016 was leading by 80% but we know how the polls were off
3) Kamala is outspending Trump 3:1.
4) The election is determined by votes not bets.
Hence, this is a great arbitrage opportunity if despite above factors you think that Kamala will be president.
I don't fully understand: does it mean that the cars are bricked and cannot be driven or simply that some cloud features e.g. driver customizations or real time traffic data is no longer available?
Add AI and drones for the dystopian effect. Drones allow insurance companies to review the house and surrounding fire risk quite well. Better than having a human drive around a tall selfie stick!
Robotaxis represent the biggest public health improvement since antibiotics & vaccines, reducing deaths through accidents and improving city air quality. But need data-driven insights that help regulatory bodies, manufacturers, and most importantly the public make informed decisions about this transformative technology.
Let's see, hedge funds in NYC get 10% of the increase in value of their fund, typically in billions of dollars. NYT has nothing to say about that. Instead, they wish to target Musk who took Tesla from a startup to the 600 billion behemoth that it is today, all the while doing more for sustainable energy than anybody else. As a shoreholder from 2018, I am incensed by the activist Delaware judge who reversed my vote 6 years ago!
My own experience was different: I was getting 89% of EPA range after 175K miles. I wonder if they are doing an apples to apples comparison: comparing EPA miles with EPA miles or are they talking about real miles? Actual mileage varies a lot depending upon driving conditions e.g., doing 75 mph with AC at full blast will dramatically reduce mileage. I think that the real issue is the EPA methodology. My wife has a Hyundai Kona EV, it has the same issue that real life mileage is worse than EPA mileage.
The main incompatibility is that QM predicts that all fields have a zero point energy associated with each mode. However, GR predicts zero point energy will cause spacetime to curve. However there are infinite modes in QM, so now using this in GR leads to all spacetime instantly collapsing. However we exist so this collapse hasn't happened. The solution is the elusive Quantum Gravity, something that physicists from Einstein, Feynman haven't been able to solve.
It has potential, but the main issue is privacy. It is one thing to be targeted for ads while doing internet search or browsing, and another while doing things on my computer, which could include confidential medical information or NSFW selfies or trade secrets.
I am still amazed that I can run a local instance of LLama3 on my 3-year old M1 MacBook Air. It is a bit slower than ChatGPT online, but nice to have a GPT-3.5 level LLM running locally!
It is fascinating how this article on dominance of EVs doesn't talk about the world's #1 manufacturer and innovator of EVs: a small American company called Tesla.
I use Tesla FSD everyday. It is not a robotaxi yet, but it makes a big difference in day to day life. I can do most drives without disengagement. To be clear, it needs to get 100x better for robotaxi. But even with its beta flakiness, it is magical.
How are they able to get around the Sunshine law: "The federal Physician Payments Sunshine Act requires that detailed information about payment and other payments of value worth over ten dollars ($10) from manufacturers of drugs, medical devices, and biologics to physicians and teaching hospitals be made available to the public."
