Actually, the current science shows that impacts are routinely understated. BTW, I'm not a warming "advocate" - this implies some sort of cheerleading. I simply follow the science.
I really wish they would quit torturing animals for this kind of garbage. If people are so desperate to live on, why not proceed directly to human experiments?
I highly recommend the Re:Joyce podcast by noted Irish author Frank Delaney. He deconstructs Ulysses in a very entertaining manner, 20 minutes at a time. Available at http://blog.frankdelaney.com/re-joyce/
Also, I recommend listening to the Audible version of Ulysses, which I found much easier than reading it in printed form - the language really comes alive.
Interesting statement in the article: "Though modern science finds minute variations in the speed of light in a vacuum or empty space..." I thought that this was a largely discredited hypothesis - is there more recent research in this area?
I don't understand the angst. Have an existing iPhone - keep it! Apple isn't going to send the earbud police to your house to confiscate it. Buying a new phone - buy an Android phone! Am I missing something here?
The problem is that we're not really having debate, as this article makes clear. We are having scientists attacked by 2 groups: climate deniers funded by large corporate masters, and random groups of crackpots. Real debate would be good but I think we're well past that point.
I just got back from a week observing at a very dark site - Pine Mountain Observatory in Central Oregon. SQM readings over 22, for those with sky quality meters. The Milky Way was literally staggering - I had to sit down to take it in. If you've never seen the night sky from a truly dark place, please try to do so.
I just finished Crime and Punishment using the 30 minute method. I ended up having to back up 20-25 minute each time - took a long time to finish the book! (I listened to the last few chapters during the day to make sure I heard the entire conclusion.)
Not sure how the 1859 Carrington Solar Event could have caused "worldwide power outages", seeing as how widespread power usage came years later. Maybe the author was referring to electrical effects on telegraph systems, which did occur?Makes you wonder about the rest of the article, and wonder why editors don't do some basic fact checking.

Next time, please use a smaller font and leave out all the silly images. It took a long time to get to the bottom of the article, only to find out there was no real content.
Agreed - my wife just bought a new Subaru with the Eyesight package. I was very dubious at first, but after a few long freeway trips, I'd much rather drive her car than my older vehicle. I believe that Subaru in Japan has published some impressive statistics about accident reduction with the Eyesight package. IMO, these technologies should be mandated on all new cars.
Animal captivity is a net good - except for the animals. If you believe, as many people do, that all animals should have the same basic rights, then captivity is shameful. In the future, human animals will look back with revulsion at the way we currently treat other animals.
He's more than abrasive - he's mentally ill. Why someone would waste even one electron replying to him is beyond me. That's what the delete key is for.
Apple in headline - check. Apple bad - check. Mention Steve Jobs - check. Talk about your personal piece of software that "always crashes" - check. You are golden!
But the toilet discussed here also has solids that need to be collected and disposed of. Composting toilets come in varying sizes, and properly maintained, result in mulch as the end product, not mountains of barely degraded poo.
Agreed. We have a composting toilet at a remote cabin, and it works great. No muss, no fuss, no odors, just rotate the bins a few times a year and dump the dried mulch.
I don't think you understand the big picture. Musk = Good, Everyone Else = Bad. The Musk sycophants are peeing their pants in excitement over this achievement, and you are just not allowed to question any part of it.
