swiley··on Almost all of the top subreddits are moderated by the same people
Again, you'll be happier with real ones rather than images. Also the more I look into it the more some of the WSB stuff looks fake. Some was certainly real but there was a lot of manipulation going on there.

If you're that worried "<p> hold shift to select more than one item.</p>" isn't a whole lot extra to add and is something most people can handle.

All my HTML still works. Just don't go overboard with frameworks and Javascript.
swiley··on Almost all of the top subreddits are moderated by the same people
You'll be happier if you just don't use Reddit.
swiley··on The rise of user-hostile software
That's pretty upsetting except Apple is getting racist and attacking sexual deviants as well. The difference is vanishing and in that case I'd rather be using software I know I can throw out and replace.
swiley··on To save California, sacrifice single-family zoning
You should tell the people living in tents and cars to be grateful they're not locked in a tower.
swiley··on Discord has won over gamers. Now it wants everybody else
Discord has taken things that worked in the web client and removed them to force you to download their app.
swiley··on To save California, sacrifice single-family zoning
It an be if you're allowed to improve it.
swiley··on To save California, sacrifice single-family zoning
This is obviously a joke but the property owners should remember that California wouldn't be the first place something like that happened.
swiley··on The All-Seeing “i”: Apple Just Declared War on Your Privacy
Software must be open source by law. Apple has shown closed software is too dangerous.

high rent means low savings means no leverage by the worker.
swiley··on The All-Seeing “i”: Apple Just Declared War on Your Privacy
Nothing except Apple saying you could trust them. People were stupid enough to accept that and now even the trust is gone.
swiley··on Startups now spend more on Airbnb than on office rent
Maybe if the property owners were allowed to build more housing the competition wouldn’t be as intense.
swiley··on Can the US crack down on fake vaccination cards?
The best solution is to not mandate them IMO. If you create strong incentives for fraud with something that’s difficult to authenticate then you shouldn’t be surprised when it happens a lot.
swiley··on Human Rights Are Not a Bug
Rights and responsibilities are always coupled. That’s why people don’t like giving other people rights.
swiley··on EU to make Bitcoin traceable, ban anonymous crypto wallets
Lack of regulation wasn’t ever even the primary advantage. That you don’t have to depend on a single payment handler is what makes crypto interesting.
swiley··on The Search for a Free/Open Source Mobile Operating System
No but they have web sites that work fine.

Authenticators usually are open source.

swiley··on The Search for a Free/Open Source Mobile Operating System
What is this about how there’s no UI to target?

Target X11 and make sure your app works on small screens with a single button mouse. That’s it.

swiley··on ‘What do you think you’re doing?’: Sydneysiders stung for eating outside
I’m really tired of this. It’s a bad cold and it’s here to stay, stop harassing people.
swiley··on Twitter starts to require login to view tweets
This is the same reason I don’t tell people how I get around HN’s “noprocrast.”
swiley··on Samsung kills the cameras on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 if you unlock the bootloader
Comparing specs between Linux and Android is an Apples vs oranges comparison IMO. I think a lot of people are unaware of the huge overhead that Android (and even iOS) has.
swiley··on Bahraini Government Hacks Activists with NSO Group Zero-Click iPhone Exploits
Don’t forget that the US democracy started with a religious fundamentalist regime.
swiley··on Apple’s crackdown on multicast
This happened to me too, I’m surprised more people don’t talk about it.
swiley··on IMF working paper suggests using browsing history in credit score calculations
Don’t like crypto currency? Stop making it necessary.
swiley··on Apple’s crackdown on multicast
Linux desktops got to where they are by people using and contributing to “damn window managers that your mom can’t daily drive.”
swiley··on Apple’s crackdown on multicast
Facebook has no business being an app at all.
swiley··on Samsung kills the cameras on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 if you unlock the bootloader
Never buy devices with non-free firmware. They're always full of garbage like this.
swiley··on “We are set on a path that looks disastrous”: Alabama hospitals near collapse
I almost never go outside. Also, the vaccines are pretty ineffective against the new variants anyway.

I followed all the rules for a year and it looks like 1 it really didn't help much and 2 the virus isn't nearly as deadly as people thought. This isn't fucking polio, it's a bad cold.

swiley··on A lot of people are getting the OnlyFans story wrong
Don’t like crypto currency? Stop making it necessary.
swiley··on Dumb Phone
The crap Apple does with iMessage really should be illegal.
