superflit··on Man can change his pupil size on command
Same as me.

I can do that.

Usually I ask a friend to count up to 3 and then on 3 I dilate the pupils immediately.

superflit··on AWS Reporting AWS Internet Connectivity Issues in US-West-2
I am seeing DNS problems too
superflit··on What are some products and services in the US that are not in Nigeria?
Money transfer and check deposits.

I always get some mail from Nigeria asking for help with that.

In US this is solved and you can even deposit at the groceries shop.

superflit··on Colorado county's voting machines banned after security breach
Not here to make you believe.

But it is easy to prove and I got called for Jury 2 times too.

It was strange and I got surprised, talked to a friend that said it was not possible. Then I show him the papers and he got more surprised.

I did lookup the laws and saw that casting a vote while not being a citizen was a crime then as good guest I follow the law and did nothing with that.

Being a good guest is a tenet to me.

For me it was strange because in my country you can only vote in person, you have to vote at sunday/holiday and that is it. If a second turn is needed another day.

No mail, no extra days.

I remember this crazy feeling : "whooa they vote by MAIL! Like.. The post service works...amazing"

same thing with paying bills by mail : "Whoa, you put the check on envelope and send it? nobody steal it? serious? there is a person there that gets the check?"

And that was the year the MJ became medicinal and CO flipped.

Conspiracy theorists will be crazy.

And I did not request anything that was the most crazy thing.

superflit··on Colorado county's voting machines banned after security breach
I remember when I got my vote ballot in Mail while I was living in Denver.

Then I remembered I was not a citizen.

superflit··on Brazil prisoners reading books to shorten their sentences (2020)
Personal attacks are not arguments.
superflit··on Brazil prisoners reading books to shorten their sentences (2020)
As a Brazilian this why we have the largest number of homicides and one of highest rate of homicides ->

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intention...

What boils down is the Narco and crime sponsor policies that looks good on paper but on reality is made to free more prisoners.

The govt likes it because "feels good" and reduce prisoner spending and looks good on UN stats.

Lets by example say that I had a discussion with someone here and I killed him.

If I am on the 10% solved murdered case I will be brought to justice.

Then criminal justice will come:

1. Was I caught in "flagrante" (up to 24h after crime)? No? Wait for judgment outside or wait for preventive prison;

2. Do I have a job or a clean record? If yes wait for trial at home;

3. Did I intent to kill? Yes go to trial, Then you may pay some damages (very low fees) and community service.

Then comes trial. I am consider Guilty IF ONLY, IF ONLY when ALL resources and recurses of law were finished.

It is normal to crimes prescribes after 20 year abusing courts but it is the law.

So I lost all recurses and now I am in Jail. The maximum sentence is 30 years (Even if I kill 10 people).

I have the right to intimate visit (I can have sex with my girlfriend/friend/wife).

If I am studying I can leave to study.

If I work each worked day another one is removed from my sentence.

If I read a book too.

Then If I have good "behavior" my sentence is reduced to 1/6.

DO the math -> max 30 /6 -> 5 years - bonus points (book, studying) I am free in 2-3 years.

Now check the link I posted above -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intention... (click count, rate) Brazil is very humane with criminals but not with its victims.

My lower middle class condo has electrified fences, armed guards, CCTV, patrols, bullet proof glasses it is like a prison. The higher classes have more features.

People with good meaning soul and big heart cannot comprehend that some people for whatever reasons feel pleasure in being evil and don't care about others life. Then they project their good meaning in laws and thus give more power to evil people do more evil until they die.

Welcome to "modern laws" for just evolved homo sapiens.

superflit··on Google may cut pay of staff who work from home
If I move to Luxemburg will they pay more?

This is the Nth article trying to convey the new narrative.

The narrative that "we need to go back".

No!

We don't need. The market is hot and we can choose.

Take the simple math. 1 hour commuting one way.

2 hours by day, 10 hours by week, 40 hours by month.

Working at home gives you back at least 40h.

Working at home GIVES you BACK AT least 1 Week!

And I am not even talking about better food, spresso machine and gym!

Now we are fighting climate change staying at home and reducing our carbon print not commuting.

Think of the children!

superflit··on Google may cut pay of staff who work from home
They care because someone spent $$$$$$$ in real state or is locked in real state sitting idle.

Then you have Investment funds that $invest nearby these locations (BlackRock) and ahem they want their profit.

Then the local govt wants to secure $vote$ because Tech workers tend to vote X. (check Austin vs Texas).

We can't have these pesky "recall" actions.

superflit··on The recycling myth: A plastic waste solution littered with failure
Because the US is not the problem.

The lobby is So strong against US that even if we take photos, investigate where is the problem people will come and say:

"The evil US made they do it."

Because maybe the US Pay and ship a fraction to be recycled outside US. But still US is blame for other countries corruption too.

It really does not matter.

"Green" will became a hidden tax on middle class to power elite.

superflit··on Ask HN: How do you chill your mind after work?
I second this.

Have an organic grower locally that sends me artisan cigars and tobacco.

Then I light a cigar or smoke a pipe.

Never inhale, only puff and play with the smoke.

superflit··on America’s Obsession with Self-Help
Then you should stop using Fossil.

It gives a bad example for climate change.

superflit··on Ask HN: Do SWEs harm themselves salary wise by not returning to the office?
No because going "on site" means you will lose 1h each way commuting and will have to pay MUCH more to live in a small place.

Then take 10h total commuting time in a week. Times 4 it is 40h hours by month.

Working remote means you get a whole week only for yourself plus lower cost of live.

When you always did commute and think that it was normal you did not realize it.

But now several people are like:

1. Why I should waste all this time commuting?

2. Why I should drink bad coffee and lunch when I have the best spresso and food at my home?

3. Why I should live in a bad neighborhood while I can live in a very good working remote?

After almost 2 years we can see we can work remotely and we are not looking forward for "stand up meetings" or office politics.

Bonus reason: We are fighting climate change :)

superflit··on Just 2% of workers at VMware showed up for the first day of in-person work
That is false.

We all know the best way to get raises is to switch companies.

No switching means you will get maybe 5-8%

superflit··on Just 2% of workers at VMware showed up for the first day of in-person work

superflit··on Just 2% of workers at VMware showed up for the first day of in-person work
Because it never was about "saving climate" it was only for a way to big corp deduct taxes and then tax YOU to pay the bill.

Strange that our "carbon free" companies are getting crazy about coming back and even more crazy now because nobody wants to go back to the cage.

Sorry but no.

I want to live where I want to live and I will work same or more efficient than I did before WFH.

No that cold free sandwich will not do it

superflit··on Just 2% of workers at VMware showed up for the first day of in-person work
We are not going back.

There is a huge demand for IT people.

And we all learn and know we can do it remotely as we are doing for almost 2 years.

I do get some people Want to go to the Office.

But the majority of tech scene is Introvert.

We are not going back.

We have better machines, espresso, coffee food and gym at our own house.

Now we are "saving the climate" not doing commute. It works both ways /s

superflit··on Ask HN: Are impressive new programs being written for CP/M?
OP.

Are you time traveling?

That would be official only later...

superflit··on Ask HN: How to convince your manager to let you continue to WFH.
The thing is a lot of companies and HR people are betting that once enough people are vaccinated we will come back to normal.

Now let me tell you about normal.

I was in South America when the new strand hit and still is hitting.

Have two close family member that got it.

1/3 of their lungs (CT Scan) was "dead".

These are the people that already got the previous Covid and recovered without any problems.

So don't worry about coming to the office.

We still have 3-4 months until new strand arrive and shake things.

The new strand does not care too much if you are obese or old.

welcome to covid-21

superflit··on Ask HN: How do you deal with being a failure?
You are a failure only in your mind.

For the homeless you are success.

For the old grandma you are a "catch" and a good candidate for her daughter.

the thing is. Your dreams weren't yours. You just copied some formula.

Imagine you are a "The sims" people that stubbornly tries to do X while your "real" persona is saying: "Dooon't go there... do this... Damned. I will break this then until you change course."

My Advice: Don't think about yourself. Be Useful. Go to your local church and help just be there.

We need people to help, to do "small" tasks and help community.

We need you. There are literally people outside that NEED you. NEED your experience and Wisdom or just to talk.

Be among people, help people.

The 'inaccessible cult.' is about the structure of the board.

First time you go there is a Chaotic mess that feels you went back to 90's.

Then in shock you start to see the subs like /pol/ then you click and bam More chaos.

Threads and threads you are more lost.

Then you click catalog and set order Reply-by-count.

Then it does start to make sense. You read people talking in two ways. On the text and on the image attached.

It is full-duplex com.

In the 90's I used to read my Mainstream media + Pravda (the other side) jornal.

Now I read the local MSM and 4chan (the other side ) jornal.

It is not like I sent him to live inside the school.

School is from 8:00 to 15:00 with breaks.

I deliver and pick up him everyday.

We don't have the luxury of not "doing" nothing or having "free/cheap" social events.

We just moved and have no social/familiar network. The other option is to be isolated in a apartment watching tv. Both parents need to work.

I DO understand parents that were afraid and did not send their kids to the school. But in my case the isolation would be worse.

Kids are *very* social they *need* it.

There is no "perfect" solution only what is best at moment.
