Happy Samsung Galaxy owner here. Migration from my last Note to current S21 Ultra was completed in less than half an hour, including "settings", contacts, data etc. I had to log in to Fastmail and Telegram with a seamless sync. Using BitWarden to manage passwords. That is worth the premium too! Dropbox syncs my files (and back ups) seamlessly. No sweat. iCloud is pathetic in terms of features (no delta sync) and generally limited storage space.
Only inactive usernames were taken away by them (and not the active ones). While it's good to have a memorable one, you'd run the risk of "spam attacks". I am not sure how the proposed blockchain (TON) will work (it's claimed to be immutable), but then this is their prerogative to earn money.
I remember Apple never communicating about its intentions clearly around its advertisement business. It was clear at the outset that its App Store business is lucrative (with all the details of its users). Will it kill the golden goose (aka consumers)? Most users have no real alternatives.
Edge-VPN is primarily Cloudfare.
Now Cloudfare has potentially even "more" data about users. They don't have an ad platform, yet. What will stop Cloudfare from accumulating and then targeting the users through "Bing-Ads"?
There's no point in being paranoid about "privacy". Where's the perfect privacy? I have been with Fastmail for over 14 years now, and I didn't feel the need to abandon them for other "privacy toting email service providers like Proton and Tutanota". I welcome the Australian government to check my filter rules on how to manage inbox zero and an excellent spam filter. While they are at it, I would welcome if they have a tutorial on sieve filter rules. I'd be delighted if their technocrat helps me with managing my MX records a pain-free experience.
Never encountered advertisements using AdGuard with Vivaldi. I listen to many podcasts there; no issues. On Android, I sideloaded a modded YouTube app without issues. Besides, I can use Kiwi Browser with specific extensions to allow YouTube to play in background and screen switched off, and uBlock origin to block advertisements. If the Chrome manifest does take over, AdGuard on Android does its job perfectly (side loaded). I haven't touched the official applications or use Google Chrome because it's restrictive. I don't use iOS, but Adguard for iOS can filter out advertisements.
A huge fan of the Kailh Box Jades or Navies. They feel "heavier" when I type, and create an awful amount of rattle, but the most satisfying to type! Using a lightly modded keyboard, and can't comment much on the build quality, but needed a decent Bluetooth keyboard. A tip for beginners - get testers and find out the differences between the switches. Choose the ones that sound most aesthetic to you. It's about sound (and typing experience) that makes the mechanical keyboards stand out. Besides, the quality of the keycaps requires a careful deliberation. Thin PBT types can sound "tinny" or change the perception; use the double shot. Always settle for a hot-swappable board - you can easily change switches and caps and use them in any combination. Happy typing!
I thought these loonies were on Reddit; HN has also seen an influx of them.
What has the political affiliations of an individual got to do with a product? The discussion is about Zoho Office Suite. How does the "right-wing" feature in here? Please keep the discussions on course.
This is a known fact: PM 2.5 causes irreversible inflammation of the specific cells, leading to an immune cascading effect that may go unregulated. The timing of the news is with the Oncology conference, so it attracts more attention. It is rehashed news. It requires an environmental clean up, but must be balanced by the costs. It is usually difficult to reverse sunk costs for prior human activity. Often, it requires careful deliberation around vehicular pollution.
I totally love this!
IMHO worth the upgrade. Kudos. This solves one of my biggest pain points on my Ultrawide monitor. Excellent layouts/fonts and dark mode. Perfect!
Even better!
Kudos to the team. A viable alternative to 1Password and others. I agree there are open source alternatives available, but I prefer to pay for the premium version, which works across all devices. Good stuff.
I expressed my opinion about the toxic optimism part.
As for the "migration"- they refer you to a tool (MRC converter) to convert the Bitwarden import to transfer to 1Password.
If 1Password expects me to pay for their services, they make it impossible for a non-technical user. As for the Wirecutter review, it's hard to decide on a publication that makes money from affiliate referrals.
1Password is uniformly bad; either way you look at it. If its value for money, Bitwarden offers the best one. I am NOT affiliated to either company but speaking from a user perspective.
Everything in 1Password minus the toxic optimism, standards compliant migration (1Password can't import from BitWarden, but other way round works) and one fourth of the subscription costs. BitWarden is easy to manage - I got my mother to install it on her Android device, and she can easily manage passwords. Their shift to an expensive subscription genuinely disappointed me with subpar applications. When alternatives work, why consider 1Password? Best option is to stay away from them.
It reads like an advert for Vivaldi. I dont have any issues with Vivaldi, but the content of the article is clearly "clickbait" with "Mutt" for the comparison. Highly avoidable write up.
