Is this a US only thing? Mine is empty.. UK/Gsuite
stedaniels··on VPN service for hosting public-facing services on non-hosting ISP circuits
The website looks good. Obviously early days since pricing is missing. Probably sorting out value proposition, how much they can get away with charging, etc.

A comparative point is using Cloudflare and Argo tunnel which I'm currently using.

stedaniels··on The humble receipt gets a redesign
Flux [0] in the UK are currently trying to irradiate the paper receipt. It's integrated with Monzo bank too. IIRC there's an API to do whatever you like with the data. I imagine Monzo will start doing cool data visitations to help your spending habits.

stedaniels··on JetBlue has started using facial recognition instead of boarding passes
I imagine the OP meant a nefarious third party using someone else's boarding pass?
stedaniels··on Tolkien was right: Scholars conclude Beowulf likely the work of single author
Even better, it would be trivial to write a tool that rephrased what you wrote to be anonymous or even better/worse match someone else's signature.
stedaniels··on Verifications.io Leaks Personal Records of 2B Users
On an isolated network, even the compromise of a low level user/service account of a device/VM/container on that network gives you keys to the kingdom. A layered approach slows down or brings the penetration to a halt allowing time for detection and remediation.
stedaniels··on Keybase is not softer than TOFU
Ever worked in licensing large systems that encompass dozens of differently licensed components? That often costs a lot, for many reasons.
stedaniels··on Google removed my ads-free app for “deceptive ads”
Which barely covers a competent person sipping a coffee whilst glancing at the title of your app.
stedaniels··on UK Gov Petitions site crashes after 600k back call to revoke article 50
Andrew White at the GDS[0] wrote about "Scaling the Petitions service following the EU Referendum"[1] back in August 2016. I wonder if we'll have another write up after this petition?

stedaniels··on Facebook Loses Top Executives, Including Chris Cox
Whilst I agree with your general thought, I don't think you realise that in certain regions Facebook subsidises it's data usage so it is 100% free whereas Skype and email cost data. I hope that helps you understand where the parent is coming from. Though I obviously know that Facebook is doing this for market share and not to be "good" to people.

That's OK, bird numbers have gone down significantly over the decades [0], they'll soon not be a problem.

stedaniels··on Cloudflare expands its government warrant canaries
It means the ones they use for the customers site, versus the ones they use for their own site.
stedaniels··on Security.txt (2017)
Is been an RFC for almost a decade, RFC5785 [0].

Mattias Geniar has a good write up on it [1].

stedaniels··on Facebook will reveal who uploaded your contact info for ad targeting
I think their trying to say.. But Facebook knows the other email addresses you use, due to using Facebook Pixel. The advertiser targets the other email addresses, not the one you use for Facebook.
stedaniels··on Facebook has been paying people to install a “Research” VPN
In terms of a newspaper.. In Google's case they might just get the headlines of what you're doing, in this case the company/Facebook gets every single word, space, and punctuation.
stedaniels··on NIST Cybersecurity Framework in MOSP
https://github.com/CASES-LU/MOSP

>MOSP is a platform to create, edit and share JSON objects.

>The goal of this platform is to gather security related JSON schemas and objects.

I'm still a bit lost. Can MOSP be translated into infrastructure configurations?

stedaniels··on I Nearly Lost All of My Data
With encrypted upload, you usually get a destination authentication thrown in for free, i.e. you're uploading to the right server :-)
stedaniels··on Apple resumes selling iPhone SE at lower $249 price on its clearance store

stedaniels··on Approaching the kernel year-2038 end game
This is a very upper class problem. You are vastly over estimating the ratio of smart to dumb devices.
stedaniels··on What Foods Are Banned in Europe but Not Banned in the U.S.?
My apologies, where I come from, the UK, Kinder Egg is colloquially used in place of Kinder Surprise. It wasn't until a week ago, after decades of only knowing one type of Kinder Egg, that I came across Kinder Joy. I've just seen on the Kinder Surprise Wikipedia page.. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinder_Surprise the very first line "Kinder Surprise, also known as Kinder Egg"
stedaniels··on What Foods Are Banned in Europe but Not Banned in the U.S.?
Kinder Eggs..

You are taking about policy here. The article is talking about technical implementation.
stedaniels··on Internal emails cause more trouble for Facebook and its C.E.O.
It wasn't that the "adults" adopted it, it's that the younger generation inevitably grew up and turned into the adults.
stedaniels··on Never connect to ProtonMail using Chrome
I'm sorry. I'm out of date it seems. I thought autocomplete="false" worked for non authentication/non common fields. I'll have to check this out in the office later.
stedaniels··on Never connect to ProtonMail using Chrome
URLs should not contain PII data. That is a very bad design.

[Edit] I've got the wrong end of the stick it seems.

stedaniels··on YouTube CEO calls EU’s proposed copyright regulation financially impossible
It's built into the app. It asks you to grade each response positively or negatively.
