It's also pretty cool how he asks for donations to be sent to nonprofits instead of himself.
I know this is irrelevant to the new release, but I think it's great that he still keeps it going after 20 years without any monetary gain (at least directly from the project).
Go to a Verizon store and look at their Android phones, I bet most of them have a task killer running.
I wonder if developers that actually sell mass amounts of apps are noticing this too?
"It is optimized to run smoothly over 14.4 kilobit/second modems as well as higher bandwidth lines, delivering performance at least ten times that of other network browsers."
"Native support for the JPEG image format."
"Multiple, simultaneous network accesses, allowing several documents or images to be downloaded simultaneously."
I don't have a problem with it, but I wish they let users know the first time they download something off of iTunes or something.
You think the record companies would want iTunes users to know that their name is tied to their music as a scare tactic or something.
Edit: This is completely irrelevant, but Chad Fowler looks way different with shorter hair.
I meant to say that I wish there was a way to get a listing of all my public posts without having to log in. Kind of like going to someone's Twitter profile if you aren't logged in.
Just a very minor nitpick, it seems like you have a great community so far which far more valuable than features that can easily be added, keep up the good work!
I used to never play PC games, and when I did I usually pirated them for convenience and simply because I couldn't legitimately purchasing the PC games I play (many of them are older and no longer in stores).
However, since this Steam sale came around I've been addicted. I ended up buying like 6 games with an average price of about $5 a game. It's just easier than pirating and it's cheap very easy just to click the buy button and charge my credit card.
Overall it's a great way to distribute new PC games and it definitely keeps the income coming in (although it might not be as much) for older games that no longer get shelf space in brick and mortar retail stores.
If anything, although the Droid might not get an official 3.0 release I'm sure someone will release an unofficial rom or something.
I remember reading about it in some Linus Torvalds interview, seems like an interesting policy.
It seems that they know this. They hired the lead designer for WebOS a while back and according to TechCrunch the next release after Froyo is all UI stuff: http://techcrunch.com/2010/06/16/android-team-laser-focused-...
It's a fake terminal but it's surprisingly fully functional (lots of commands work, tab autocompletion, etc.)
I'm pulling in about $22/month...
Although I really dislike PHP, I feel like it would be more appropriate because at least some technology enthusiasts are comfortable with uploading some PHP files and running a web based installer even though they aren't programmers.
Edit: It's also using MongoDB, interesting.
I don't think it's widely used at all these days although I believe Apple web apps like the iTunes store and their online store use it.
Since Android is much more open than Android once you have an application file you can easily share it.
