sscheper··on Fred Wilson is wrong about “Free”
HN Feature Request: Filter out Dalton Caldwell/app.net posts.

Upvote if in favor.

sscheper··on Ghost.py - a webkit web client written in python.
What is a webkit web client?
sscheper··on Xip.io - a magic domain name that provides wildcard DNS for any IP address
Bravo. I sometimes wish HN had an option to filter out 37 Signals items...
sscheper··on San Diego: join us for SD Hacker News meetup #29 (Fri 5/25)
Friday night?
sscheper··on Trust is Fragile
Sometimes I feel like 37signals should change the name of their blog to "Much Ado About Nothing"
sscheper··on Tell congress to stop SOPA with a physical letter
Just completed/sent a letter via your link and donated afterwords (and I rarely donate). Nice work.
sscheper··on USV invests in Duck Duck Go
The funny thing is that DuckDuckGo will at some point have to ditch their "Carbon Ads" in favor of Google's Paid Ad Feed. Basically, DDG will become a super affiliate of Google.
sscheper··on Raven - a Mac site-specific web browser
"It debuts with the most widely used websites including Google+, Facebook, Twitter and Quora."

Lol, most widely used websites? Maybe for tech geeks. But for the rest of the world, it's Facebook, Craigslist, YouPorn/PornHub, etc.

sscheper··on A Git user’s first (and hopefully last) foray into SVN-land
Is Git 100% social/public? Can code be private? And last question: is it secure enough to where enterprise companies (not just tech hipster startups) use it?
sscheper··on Advertising in Mobile Games is Broken
I don't get why it's broken? Any numbers/data to share? Why does Angry Birds contain ads if they're broken? Honestly, not trying to be a dick, just trying to understand the problem.
sscheper··on Twitter: From Ruby on Rails to the JVM [video]
Surprised no other person brought this up.
sscheper··on Does one have to be a genius to do maths?
Good post. Somewhat related: Any good books/recommendations for those hoping to study post-school math on their own?
sscheper··on Workers Leaving the Googleplex
Wishes the voiceover was by Morgan Freeman.
sscheper··on Turn any page into Katamari Damacy

sscheper··on Speed-Freak Football
I like these two passages:

"The team’s graduation rate for football players, as measured by the N.C.A.A., is below average."

"James did have one complaint, having to do with the music: “The other day he had like ‘Hakuna Matata’ or some [expletive] from ‘The Lion King’ playing, which I don’t think nobody wants to hear. He needs to bump some Lil Wayne on there.”

sscheper··on Peter Thiel: $100k grant to 20 founders who drop out of school
Really like this part:

"Because education seeks to impart past knowledge, when you are trying to create a technological breakthrough, you have to create new knowledge, and there is no way to teach that. There was no course at University of Arizona on ‘‘how to cure aging.' Hopefully, this program will allow others to work on ambitious projects themselves, before they've taken on a crippling amount of student debt,”

sscheper··on Twitter Co-Founders Offer Tips for Entrepreneurs
Then figure out how to make money.
sscheper··on Twitter Co-Founders Offer Tips for Entrepreneurs
"'If you build something that people value, something that is unique, and ahead of the others, then you will make money.' – Ev"

So, I guess Twitter did not build something that people value, something that is unique, and ahead of the others.

sscheper··on Phygg: digg for physicists
lol
sscheper··on Scribd Puts My Old Uploads Behind a Paywall and Goes Onto My Shitlist
That paywall pays for hosting, the platform and the tools that guy used--not to mention the fact that it also pays for hundreds of jobs and fuels the entrepreneurial economy. If that causes a benign blogger to add the service to his or her shitlist, then I think Scribd will live on.
sscheper··on Ask HN: Why do 37signals and others not accept PayPal?
Makes sense.

What do you use instead of Paypal? Authorize.net?

Also, what shopping cart do you use?

I'm currently using e-junkie, but curious as to what else is out there that works well.

Thanks, Ramit.

sscheper··on Save Google Wave
"A ubiquitous messaging federated service as an alternative to email? Now that's what I was looking forward too and simply never materialized"

Your mom is a ubiquitous messaging federated service.

sscheper··on To Do List Advice
@blatherard LOL. Do you guys have any recommendations on a hosting account? Sorry for the inconvenience...

I pay about $20 a month for Hostican, but still seem to be having problems when my stories get on Hacker News or Digg...

sscheper··on Thesis and the GPL
Is it a crime to put your life into creating something, marketing it extremely well, attracting a ton of avid fans/users, and deciding that he or she doesn't want others undercutting the price?
sscheper··on Ask HN: Resources for finding short term projects?
Meeting people.
sscheper··on Android 2.2 demolishes iOS4 in JavaScript benchmarks
I don't care. iPhone 4. I want iPhone 4.
sscheper··on More Sex is Safer Sex (1996)
This is Hacker News. As long as masturbation doesn't cause aids, all is good.
sscheper··on Tynt, the Copy/Paste Jerks
Gruber sounds like a whining teenager. It's the publishers' prerogative to (i) get attributed for their work, and (ii) get some SEO juice back to their site.

I suspect that he's just bored, suffering from writer's block, and needs and outlet to get it out. There, you've cried on the shoulder of a bunch of hacker news dudes. Feel better now?

sscheper··on The Twitter Platform
In denial.
sscheper··on Diaspora's Curse - Jason Fried
He forgot the fourth curse:

"Your thirteen year-old sister will crap her pants when she's told to download a social "node" on her computer in order to tell her friends that Abercrombie is having a sale."
