squeral··on Science Communications on YouTube
I found it strange that StarTalk hadn't been mentioned yet. Neil deGrasse Tyson is my favourite science communicator.
squeral··on Apple announces new accessibility features, including eye tracking
Can't wait for my son to try this. He has general coordination issues due to a brainstem injury but the eyes are probably the part of the body he can better control. I'm not a fan of Apple's software and didn't have a great experience with the Vision Pro but I am excited to try it out.
squeral··on Eurovision Song Contest Bingo
Also not available in the UK for some reason.
squeral··on Welcome to Web 3.0
I get that "Web 3.0" is catchy as "Web 2.0" was back in the day but I wish people would stop trying to version "the web". It doesn't make any sense.
squeral··on Portugal proposed law tries to sneak in biometric mass surveillance
There's still a chance as some media are painting it as a good security measure.
squeral··on NATO Classified Cloud Platform Compromised
Maybe, until you need to send those docs somewhere.
squeral··on Is Rust web yet?
I agree. It will take some time until we have a Rust framework that is as robust and feature-rich as Django or Rails.
squeral··on Ways to make a web component
Don't bother waiting. By that time there will be another set of frameworks.
squeral··on Prettier 2.0 – Opinionated JavaScript formatter
You have the option of not using these sort of tools and styling the code yourself.
squeral··on Covid-19 projects looking for volunteers
You might find this project more appealing: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22573743
squeral··on Ask HN: Cheap places to live with a good intellectual atmosphere?
I'd consider Lisbon for the life style and most people speak English.
squeral··on I built a progressive web app and published it in three app stores
For me the great advantage of web apps is that you build a single code base for that can run on any platform (browser). That make it so much easier to maintain so you can focus more on features. If you build a native app for iOS you'll have to build another for Android and so it could be harder to maintain.
squeral··on Python, Go or Haskell?
It depends a lot on what you are building. I'd recommend Python in general as it has more support but don't limit yourself to it as there might be some parts of your project were Go or Haskell can be more powerful.
squeral··on Ask HN: UK Startups – Are You Thinking of Leaving the UK Because of Brexit?
I'm a Portuguese expat living and working in the UK and at the moment I'm not thinking of leaving but... It will depend on what happens in the next year or so.

squeral··on A summary of jQuery method alternatives in native browser implementation
You can always use TypeScript if you want your code to look prettier and more verbose.
squeral··on A summary of jQuery method alternatives in native browser implementation
My view on this is that if you are going to take advantage of the extended list of jQuery plugins out there then you should definitely use it. But if you are just using it to make your own changes to DOM then just use native JS.
squeral··on Branson admits Virgin space mission was going the wrong direction
Too early for space tourism.

squeral··on Angular 2 docs for ES6/7
It's not a big deal. If you're using ES6 then TypeScript should be straightforward.
squeral··on Ask HN: Anyone moving their company out of the UK following Brexit?
What about Lisbon? Portugal is very, very cheap compared to London and Berlin.
squeral··on GitHub down?
UK as well
squeral··on New Star Trek Series Premieres January 2017
I'm a huge fan and hope it's an alternate timeline that can still stick to some of the original stories. Maybe with refresh ship designs :)
