The closer way I've found is this guy making it with a recycled transformer, a hard drive magnet, a jar lid, some wood, and some cables.

Those videos are in Spanish but subtitles are available.

squeezingswirls··on I’ve used DuckDuckGo as my search engine for a year
I use DDG daily but there's one thing that grinds my gears, and undermines their privacy by default statement.

They leak the searches in the URL like this https://duckduckgo.com/?q=this+is+not+private+at+all&ia=web

squeezingswirls··on Facebook testing notification to users about Apple privacy changes
That's a good point. I didn't know about that, and I'll have to think about it.

Anyway paying FB's mafia style extortion probably isn't the solution.

squeezingswirls··on Facebook testing notification to users about Apple privacy changes
I do believe small brands can get more ROI using social media than wasting their money on digital ads.

I don't know about other OSes but it's available on UBPorts, and it works fine.

squeezingswirls··on PinePhone – KDE Community edition
I haven't used plasma-mobile yet but in UBPorts you can sync your photos with your Nextcloud instance. Another option is Syncthing.
squeezingswirls··on “Homeworld” will be the default theme for Debian 11
Juliette Taka's proposal for Debian 11 is very interesting but I even like more her previous proposals, especially her "Moonlight" theme for Debian 10.

Have you tried https://doc.e.foundation/devices/tissot/?
squeezingswirls··on PinePhone Manjaro Community Edition
I mean /e/ compared to Android. LOS is a good option too.
squeezingswirls··on Identifying People by Their Browsing Histories
Exactly, for this they'd need to run an ad blocker and a script blocker, such as uBlock Origin and NoScript.
squeezingswirls··on PinePhone Manjaro Community Edition
Are you running Android in your device? Maybe you could give https://doc.e.foundation/devices/jfltexx/ a try if you want a more private experience.

> there was no way to do offline maps for example

That's not true, you can use https://open-store.io/app/pure-maps.jonnius

Offline mapping is possible by installing OSM Scout Server https://open-store.io/app/osmscout-server.jonnius

About the apps, you can help developing native apps using https://clickable-ut.dev/en/latest/

squeezingswirls··on PinePhone Manjaro Community Edition
Yes, it's the same hardware with a different distro pre-installed, and a different back cover.
squeezingswirls··on PinePhone Manjaro Community Edition
To develop native apps for UBports (Ubuntu Touch) you can use https://clickable-ut.dev/en/latest/

About Android apps, there's the Anbox project but it needs a lot of work yet.

squeezingswirls··on PinePhone Manjaro Community Edition
You're mostly right but there's the Anbox project to somewhat fill that gap.

Meanwhile you can install Mobian in any Pinephone, and support the Mobian Project here https://liberapay.com/mobian/donate
squeezingswirls··on Even Google engineers are confused about Google’s privacy settings
I don't like surveillance capitalism at all, and I hope we can stop it once and for all.

I'm also terrified about other kind of developments like https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2020/09/china-a...

So yeah maybe a not so lame cyberpunk future.
