This assumes the approach is repeatable, and applicable to other products. These success stories are a nice way of sharing knowledge and giving others hope.
Not all stories are luck, but clever ways of researching and solving problems.
I am thankful to those that share and have learned lots. Please keep sharing!

This feels inevitable for HP. After various takeovers and the economic climate (in particular on their PC division) it seems an easy decision. Most of the redundancies will be made up of early retirement, but always seems like a loss of talent. There must be some veterans there with 40/50 years in the business.
Business logic should always be the dominating force. This is often forgotten and the time you have 'real' users using the system it is too late to make sweeping changes.
Good to see the big names promoting innovation and technology in Europe. I use to be a Mozilla fan but am now google heavy. Maybe it is time to come back?
What is the stack?
1) The main value is the sunk cost people have in Facebook. The vast majority of your family and friends are on the platform. You unwittingly have built up a scrap book of your past few years - photos, messages, relationships...
2) The other value is the time people spend on Facebook plus the large user base. You just need one or two mechanisms to extract revenue from this position and you are winning.
There are plenty of risks, some may be:
1) The Government cracks down on privacy or advertising standards.
2) An alternative arrives that makes it easy to transfer your profile. You can always download your Facebook profile.
3) Suffers the MySpace factor. Facebook is left behind due to better and more exciting offerings.
For now, Zuckerberg has shown his ability to compete. Until people stop spending hours on Facebook, they are very far from failure.
Slightly unrelated but underneath the video it has a live counter of views.

I would personally throw in an autobiography a functional business book. The rest can be made up with personal drive and passion.
I know you can replace fans but this is nuisance if you don't know much about the inner workings of a computer. PCs are easier to open but laptops and other portable devices aren't always possible to open (breach of warranty and design etc).
I like the name - Hackasaurus.
These all sound so fluffy but I guess there must be people out there trying to patent these type of things. Are they saying you can no longer patent a 'process'?

The recent crisis in Europe should make the voting interesting.
1. Less lifehacking, more life-designing
2. The best app/tool/gadget/hack for the job is the one you have with you.
3. The least possible (practical) amount of organization is best.
4. You are very important, but only to certain people. Make sure you identify them correctly.
If you only try implement one of these you got to moving in the right direction.
Edit: Their account is temporarily suspended and not shutdown. If they change the branding and verify their account they will be reinstated.
Interesting how he worked as a consultant to Apple, eventually becoming a full time employee.
A knighthood is a special title but has been handed out to some dubious characters in the past... Goodwin, Mugabe. Not taking anything away from Ive.
For example, you may have a million twitter followers who create minimal interaction. Or have a face to face meeting with one person who introduces you to an interested angel or your next big customer.
What has biggest impact?
