sonar_un··on Once Claude can measure something, it can make it faster
This was a fantastic read. Lots of useful info in there for your own projects.
sonar_un··on AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible
I literally saw that poster today in London and had this conversation about AI posters with my wife. I had no clue it would literally be a post today.
sonar_un··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
Absolutely the same experience here. Pretty much worse in every way.
sonar_un··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
My experience with the new Siri is objectively worse. I am on an Iphone 17 Pro Max and all searches are very slow, accessing utilities has slowed down quite a bit, lagginess when settings timers. Failure to make new notes or reminders. Stuff just not working. I've been using the OS since the RC. I give it a flat 0/10
sonar_un··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
That doesn't make sense at all. Fail open means the method of it's use is still in use.

Say you have a door that has powered locks. You want it to fail "open" so that when the power goes out, it's still useable, and people can get out. That's the source of the term.

sonar_un··on France reaches 94.9% fiber coverage in 2026
I spent a lot of time in SF in the early 2010s and I couldn't believe how absolutely terrible the internet was in the heart of silicon valley. It's incredibly sad honestly. You'd expect that SF would have the worlds top internet speeds, but nope. It was quite disappointing.
sonar_un··on France reaches 94.9% fiber coverage in 2026
The UK is absolutely terrible. I've noticed this quite a bit in my travels there.
sonar_un··on France reaches 94.9% fiber coverage in 2026
I am in Italy right now, in fact, spent a lot of time here. I can safely say, the 5G sim coverage is extremely spotty, and when you can get internet from a physical line, it's generally pretty poor speeds. I am pretty sure a lot of that 78% includes 1 bar of LTE coverage, so it's "technically" true.
sonar_un··on MapComplete – Contibute to OpenStreetMaps
Yeah, it's definitely super slow right now.
sonar_un··on MapComplete: Maps about various topics which you can contribute to
I use the app "flush" for this, and it works pretty well.
sonar_un··on Apple WWDC 2026
Go watch the dev videos, they feel 100% AI. The people are real, but everything else about it is uncanny valley.
sonar_un··on Ian's Secure Shoelace Knot
Yep, I am a runner too, ran 6 marathons with this knot and run 20 miles a week. It just never comes undone.
sonar_un··on Ian's Secure Shoelace Knot
I came across this site in the late 90's / early 2000's as well. I've been using the Ian Knot ever since, and even forgot how to tie my shoes "normally". I will teach it to anyone who will listen to me rant about knots.
sonar_un··on DaVinci Resolve 21
I use both in my workflows. Though with all of the features of Resolve, I still use FCP for most of my content. FCP is just faster to edit and has a smoother end-to-end workflow. Resolve is still best for colorgrading and fine details, but if you just want to get a project released on time, nothing beats FCP.
sonar_un··on YouTube to automatically label AI-generated videos
Good luck with that. I work in classical music and we can't post anything because it gets automatically flagged as copyrighted. They couldn't fix it then and they certainly won't fix it now.
sonar_un··on YouTube to automatically label AI-generated videos
I think that if a video gets accidentally flagged as AI, it might signal to the creator to create better content. If your content is flagged, then it must be of a quality that is not discernable from slop.
sonar_un··on My two-part desk setup (2025)
That's exactly what I did. It really doesn't look bad and is super cheap.

sonar_un··on My two-part desk setup (2025)
I wouldn't say comparable, but I built my desk with HomeDepot "Everbuilt" shelving system. I coveted the vistoe 606 system forever, but the price was just way too much. The system from HomeDepot looks 80% as good and is 90% cheaper. It doesn't have the pullout shelves, but I put some cabinets with rollers underneath, so everything moves out of the way and it's a truly "floating".
sonar_un··on Scorched Earth 2000 – Web
I was gonna say, this is totally tank wars!
sonar_un··on We have a 99% email reputation, but Gmail disagrees
Seriously, almost no one uses RSS. Of course it's the best format for subscriptions, but the average person uses e-mail and understands e-mail.
sonar_un··on Reallocating $100/Month Claude Code Spend to Zed and OpenRouter
I use Daniel Meissler’s PAI and it’s been an incredible harness.
sonar_un··on LaGuardia pilots raised safety alarms months before deadly runway crash
Pretty much everything broken in the USA stems directly from Reagen.

sonar_un··on FCC updates covered list to include foreign-made consumer routers
No one would trust a US made router for fears of backdoors. Even if they did manage to make one, the market would be minuscule for it.
sonar_un··on Agentic AI Infrastructure for magnifying HUMAN capabilities
Not sure why his stuff is being slept on here on HN, but his PAI and to a lesser extent, Fabric, changed the way I use AI. PAI+Claude has been a gamechanger for me.
sonar_un··on Ramtrack.eu – RAM Price Intelligence
Needs to have 48GB SODIMMs
sonar_un··on AirPods Max 2
I wish someone would find a way to take the wireless chips and battery out of thrown-away headphones and put them into a decent pair of headphones.
sonar_un··on California's new bill requires DOJ-approved 3D printers that report themselves
It's anyone who manufactures plastic or parts. 3D Printers are the wild west of printing your own replacement parts and soon the goal will to ban these things, unless there is right to repair.
sonar_un··on My ridiculously robust photo management system (Immich edition)
This is exactly what I do. I have Immich as just a viewer and keep everything in external libraries. This is the major failure of Immich as far as I am concerned. I really don't like "black box" style of photomanagement. I also find that NextCloud has a very good photo viewer as well, which is almost as good as immich.
sonar_un··on Antirender: remove the glossy shine on architectural renderings
Third one is definitely Madrid, I live there. I can say that the real life looks much better than the Antirender image.
sonar_un··on Eat Real Food
A WFPB diet is easily the most affordable diet, by far. Much cheaper than meat or even vegetarian diets.
