slobotron··on Chrome 68 will mark all HTTP sites as “not secure”
Even now it doesn't inspire much confidence :)
slobotron··on Chrome 68 will mark all HTTP sites as “not secure”
Agreed that in situation like this it's near impossible to ascertain that iframe target wasn't altered, unless you already somehow know what it was before you got mitmd.

Those forms sit in an IFRAME and content is loaded via https. Example from http://seasportdivers.com/ :

slobotron··on EBay to Ditch PayPal for Dutch Payment Processor Adyen
Best way to integrate with stripe is to use their checkout button to get a token instead of receiving CC info directly.

Iirc, still need to use backend code to do the actual charge, but at least you never see any sensitive info.

Is it not possible to just not connect it to the Internet?
slobotron··on Kodi for the Xbox One
Heh, I had soft-modded the original Xbox via the plug-the-running-harddrive-into-another-system trick. XBMC ran great on it for a while, until one day popping in a new game disc it auto-updated the dashboard and un-modded itself :(
slobotron··on Oh shit, git: Getting myself out of bad situations
Not the OP, but git cola works great for me.

iPad 1st gen built in YouTube app (iOS 5) is also out of commission. Probably cause they couldn't show ads on that API version.
slobotron··on Firefox Private Browsing vs. Chrome Incognito: Which Is Faster?
So, Safari on macOS uses private APIs that even programs outside the App Store can't use?

Complaint is more about unprompted 5.3GB download.
slobotron··on The cargo cult of versioning
I've seen even point releases break something. For proper ci/cd you always lock to exact version, and run upgrades purposefully (say on a schedule). Last thing one needs is to hunt for breakage when a dependency changes unexpectedly.

You wouldn't let your teammates commit code without review, why trust a 3rd party... (Not saying need to look at diffs of third party libraries)

Thanks for catching that - my statement was definitely too strong in implying data invulnerability.

I was hinting that you still get a bit of extra protection with ZFS over other filesystems, both on Non-ECC RAM. There is a chance with a stuck/corrupt bit that checksum will fail and you will get a read error. I interpreted OP as saying ECC is a must for ZFS, but I don't think you are more prone to corruption that any other FS?

I'm basing my understanding on this: http://jrs-s.net/2015/02/03/will-zfs-and-non-ecc-ram-kill-yo...

slobotron··on PostgreSQL 10 Released
I think pg_restore supports pg_dump custom format (-f) from all the way down to 8.4, that way you can do faster parallel import (pg_restore -j).

If anything, ZFS checksumming lets you get by without ECC and still be confident in your data...
slobotron··on Stripe Elements: Pre-built UI components to help you create checkout flows
You can enable "Remember Me" when using stripe checkout [0], and you won't need to retype CC* on other sites that use checkout, but I don't think it's obvious to users that it's connected to Stripe and not the merchant's site...

* as soon email is entered, Stripe sends a code to phone as means of validating the user

slobotron··on Maru OS – A complete desktop experience on a smartphone
For me it's mostly a novelty - I put RiscOS on it to try it out, and it seems snappy enough. But it's a mess of cables - I never got around to making it as pretty as some [1]

slobotron··on Maru OS – A complete desktop experience on a smartphone
Motorola webtop on Atrix was too early - phones were just too slow for even basic browsing in Firefox in laptop mode.

Perhaps Maru is smooth enough on new hardware?

(Still have the lapdock lying around, now hooked into RPi.)

slobotron··on I Broke Rust's Package Manager for Windows Users
There was a bug in Windows 95 (98 too?) where if you tried to open 'nul\nul' or 'con\con' etc, it would BSOD instantly. Provided lots of drive-by fun in computer labs... (got really good at typing win+r con\con)
