Across the global volume of 185 million to 220 million laptops per year, where manufacturers were putting in 16GB RAM for the past decade (or longer), we really need 128GB to run local inference for the AI-centric world of the future, so that is an additional 112 GB per laptop - this creates an annual shortfall of 20.72 to 24.64 billion gigabytes (20.72 to 24.64 Exabytes) of DRAM. Just for laptops alone, ignoring the desktop or server or cloud or other markets.

Manufacturing supply is going to take 5 years to catch up. Buy memory stocks (MU/SKHynix) - they will be multiple of their current prices in 5 years.

Can someone point to a mirror of this X link ? It wants me to install the app to read something that I could/should be able to read using my browser.

The map is wrong - but the article is right - it mentions that the longer route higher up on the peninsula from Skabo to Flode has been chosen but most internet maps show the shortest route from Eide (which has not been chosen). There is only one map I found showing the correct slighly longer route at https://www.tu.no/artikler/kjemper-fortsatt-for-ny-trase-for...

Very nice...the maritime vessels view seems very sparsely populated...especially in the Strait of Hormuz.

It doesn't work on the GVB Amsterdam local trains or trams...just the NS trains. There are some routes within Amsterdam that have NS trains paralleling GVB trains, might help save money on those.

I like the term "compute famine" - it appears that all AI infrastructure is maxed out globally.

8 GB is not enough...even the $699 model has only 8 GB.

I like this format and I also like irreverent humor like the BOFH chronicles... can I submit content for consideration in the next issue ?

And here I am, stuck with only cable modem connectivity.

Website blocked as a threat/unsafe domain.

Imagine if the walls were thin resonant panels and every time the Captain says "make it so" it will reverberate and sound like a commandment from God !

I love how they have documented the wall coverings from all the TNG episodes in minute detail.

They just pushed a new redesigned page for pull request diffs- must have bloated the DOM.

I know someone who didn't get the lottery for 3 consecutive years.

I agree - we need a large example not the toy examples of NeoPixels chained together. Also, in the Github module library, I found only ESP32-C3 modules but the hobbyists use ESP8266 and ESP32 and ESP12-E as well as STM dev modules...I suppose its one of those things where contributors will help populate the library but I don't see instructions on how to build all the artifacts I see in the library - there are atleast 12 artifacts for each module...

Busy work- yet another browser/IDE/framework because why not.

"Only available to the people paying $200/month"...nothing to see here

Tesla panels and total price after installation is too high to be competitive- only the Powerwall enthusiasts buy panels+powerwalls from tesla. Other panels are so cheap these days and EG4 makes excellent power storage options.

I liked the photo that one of the quoted seismologists, Zhigang Peng from Atlanta, supplied to the author of this article - which depicts the seismologist standing in front of a sign marking the San Andreas fault on a visit to California. Its just the kind of photo a visiting seismotourist would take !

AI /s

It works well.

I once waited 20 mins in the Walmart camping section for an associate to come and open the propane gas cylinders cabinet. I noticed other people in other aisles also waiting for locked up items.

I left and went to Target where I was able to grab all the camping supplies I wanted from the shelves and checkout. I avoid Walmart since that day, as almost everything is locked up.

Indiana Jones

Psych ?

Quite incredible that time shifting of renewable power has gone mainstream in Australia.

The discovery happened because the amateur historian suffered a sudden loss of hearing and took leave from his job to go browse the archives in Dublin. A special Christmas supplement to the regular newspaper from 1890 and he decided to just browse it for fun ?

Serendipitous.

I discarded the HTMX stuff - the rest of the framework is nicely put together. The ability to queue worker items to asynx workers as well as the ability to add CLI commands to CRUD on the DB helped get a project going in quick time.

k9s rocks ! It makes it so easy to do things that would take extremely long and complicated kubectl commands.

Stripe is well known for burnout and intense workplace toxic culture. Just behind Amazon.

I personally know 2 people who almost lost their mind working at Stripe. Thankfully, they pulled the ejection handle and left before it got to them.

Can they switch to a radix of 36 instead of decimal numbers ?
