I wouldn't call them "frame sizes" for ATM or DSL. It's a bit of a transparent fragmentation into "cells" onto the "transport" layer. It could carry arbitrary "frame" sizes on that
But not many 17 year olds change the world. The standout people usually gain some form of recognition and cheers from people.
Unless you're one of the "everyone's achievements are equal!" kind of person.
Because this is a highly unusual and complex thing for someone that young to accomplish? We should applaud them for their dedication and results. There's soooop much that can distract youth (or anyone of any age) from completing a pursuit like this. To the point I find your comment to be pedantic and ageist.
First to market, but with beginner mistakes. I'll wait for a more mature EV truck myself. I want a simple box frame, with a body on frame, nothing fancy. Just pure utilitarian EV truck like a base F150 but with a battery.
I have an old house that had ungrounded outlets. My MBP made me take on costly electrical repairs cuz I got so sick of the shocks and tingling sensation whenever id touch it while charging. I should've put a multimeter on it to see what voltage and current it carried, didn't "hurt" but it was certainly a noticeable tingling.
Saying "someone doesn't have the technology or expertise" is a point in time statement only true that moment. Progress marches ever forward, and China has quite a few exceptional engineers and scientists (and money) to pursue their objectives.
Don't feel too bad about your truck in a junkyard. It has probably donated enough parts to keep a dozen other ones on the road with economical scrapped parts.
Lots of passed off vehicles to poorer countries tend to be body on frame style. Lots of ford/Toyota trucks, where frame damage can as "simple" as welding steel bar stock or straightening with a basic frame puller.
If a unibody vehicle is totaled from major damage in the US, they get scrapped of nearly every usable part, then crushed and melted down. Not even worth the shipping/hassle to send a smashed up Kia to Central America, let alone Africa. People aren't stupid. They're just as savvy at this, if not more, than we would ever be. Hence the amount of body on frame SUVs and trucks that get salvaged there. Sure, you'll see "beat up" cheap cars there, but they'll pass on anything majorly damaged, cuz even there, it's simply not worth it.
I mean, there's certainly rebuilt/salvaged cars, but more often than not people are scammed into buying those from shady AF places.
Lesson is, don't waste your time or money on a unibody car with major damage. Scrap em. It's pointless. And people arguing we need to repair everything even from major damage when it makes zero economic or ecological sense and from those with no experience in the industry is just tiring.
It makes me feel even better looking at accomplished peoples work. Seeing the whole thing come together, everyone's contributions that lead to works of art, science, engineering, etc.
It would make me feel shitty that "accomplished people" were standalone in their works, where no one along their life was ever helpful or interested or supported or bought their works.
It takes a village (or a planet/solar system/galaxy/universe worth of everything going right for a single accomplishment to have happened)
I question the motives of people who wax philosophic about this subject matter. Of all the gray areas of the law - one thing any normal person would find revolting is someone's attraction to minors.
Now I've opened the door to people who will say "it's ok in X country because minors are 8 and younger" or some shit.
Only on HN would this be controversial, what is it about this? Not the first time this debate has happened here with a similar refrain "but no actual children were harmed!". Ok, if you ignore how this source material is generated, predatory behaviors these people exhibit otherwise.
It's a severe for of antisocial deviant depraved behavior - normalized here on HN.
I don't even care - the HN crowd is uhhhh, how do I say... quite on the spectrum. Jumping to defend RMS, saying it's totally ok just because he's autistic.
Didn't really expect much to be honest given past discussions here, just a lot of enablers and fetish pushers.
There was even a ton of support for some caught in Thailand with underage people, and jailed in Australia I believe, people jumping to defend him here because he wasn't in Australia to break Australian law (really, they were just gas lighting their own deviances)
Exim is an old codebase, but I've interacted with the devs often, this doesn't jive with my experience.
Even filing a bug report or help request, they request the standard stuff to reproduce, config examples of the help request to give context, in a polite and professional manner. It's a lovely project, a flexible MTA and good stewards of open source.
I don't suspect the communications will be released, but I have a bias to favor the Exim developers on this than a corporate entity offering bug bounties and clout.
It's also liability. If insurance determines frame damage, they're inclined to often total it and settle with you. You ain't getting that car unless you buy it back.
I know this since I've worked in insurance, they don't want to be liable if the car doesn't perform to manufacturers specifications while driving or another accident.
Initial repair/value cost is a determining factor yes, but doubly so future liability. Take it to their preferred shop, repair is inadequate, fails to perform while driving = they're liable for way more than initially.
Unibody cars are already totaled out for frame damage pretty often. It can be very hard to properly repair structural and safety elements of a modern unibody. Not to say you won't see it on the road, but it will be a salvage/reconstructed title that won't carrying comprehensive insurance ever again.
