skinofstars··on Svelte – A UI framework that compiles into tiny standalone JavaScript modules
Yeah, Ractive and Vue felt like very similar style frameworks, though Ractive's SVG support is awesome. Shame it isn't more popular.

skinofstars··on What Is Code?
Sounds like a better experience than on Firefox, which fails to load anything, even text, past the first video.

skinofstars··on Introduction to Facebook's Flux architecture
Guessing you're on ruby 1.9.3 or something. Update to ruby 2.x first (brightbox ppa is good for this on Ubuntu types), then gem install sass.
skinofstars··on Introducing Atlas: Netflix's Primary Telemetry Platform
Wait, didn't Hashicorp release Atlas a couple of days ago?
skinofstars··on Z Launcher
I lived with this for a month. It took very little getting used to and was pretty pleasant to use. Writing letters for launching works great.

However, what I missed most was discoverability. I don't use all my apps all the time, so less frequently used ones dropped out of sight. And if you can't remember the actualy name of it, you'll likely just lose it unless go hunting.

If you like to have a controlled subset of apps that are always near the surface, then great.

If you like stumbling serendipity, not so good.

Most homelessness charities in the UK subscribe to the view that you are not helping by giving money to beggars. There's even an extensive campaign called Killing with Kindness

As someone who used to work in this sector, I no longer give money to beggars. Support the charities instead.

skinofstars··on Koding - Free VMs for online development
It looks to be that additional VMs cost money, so there's a business model to start with.

btw, your compilr link goes to a domain squatter.

skinofstars··on Fifty Shades of Grey Would Be Banned in UK?
I think a more notable example included in that is A Clockwork Orange, which clearly depicts (simulated) rape. Is this classic now going to be illegal to distribute online in the UK?
skinofstars··on A conversation with the Go team
Yep, but at least it's a good reminder to listen to them.
skinofstars··on Ask HN: What is your dumbest project on Github?
Thanks, I've just added that to all Google searches. Brilliant!
