Fuck you. The Newton was a HUGE(!!!!!!) loser. You are just too fucking lazy to look it up. I was working in the 90's. I remember this and I'm not going to waste my time learning you easy to find information. FUCK OFF AND DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK.

OT: I wish their was a way to delete my fucking account. This site is a bunch of armchair CTO's who don't know their eye sockets from their assholes.

Actually it was the Newton that made Apple loose so much money. It was never profitable with an average annual loss of 1 billion USD. But if it wasn't for that loss, Steve Jobs would never have been requested to be a consultant at Apple and turn himself into the CEO later.
signalsignal··on Path texts my entire phonebook at 6 AM
Two words: Government Regulation.

Once Congress puts a bill forward to deal with this issue, it will be the beginning of the end for this type of behavior. I'm sure Obama will get behind it as well, as it will help the computer market immensely.

signalsignal··on Photographers' anger at law change over 'orphan works'
> Does that mean from now on, rather than "Copyright © 2013 Kailuo Wang", I have to say Copyright © 2013 my Email address ?

No. You can put in whatever copyright information you wish as long as you are able to be contacted based on that information.

> Does it mean that if someone steal my photo without permission and removed copyright information, other people can just use download it from there and legally use it however they want because they cannot contact me?

Yes.

FTP is perfectly sufficient. Why should they use FTPS instead?

The cryto signature for the file is here ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gdb/gdb-7.6.tar.gz.sig

Good. Adapt or die.

Bank regulation isn't worth the paper it's printed on. The contracts reflect the culture, and if the culture is rotten the benefits will be the same.
signalsignal··on We wanted flying cars, instead we got 140 characters crashing the markets
Ultralight aviation(1) is available to the masses, but people don't want to replace their cars with them. Why? It is an unsolvable problem, so nobody knows.

signalsignal··on A fake tweet caused a sharp drop in US markets
Yes.

You've only linked to print advertising and newspapers' declining revenue, i.e printing on dead trees. Printing on paper then selling that paper isn't a requirement for journalism to happen.

signalsignal··on A fake tweet caused a sharp drop in US markets
Yes, it's called journalism.
signalsignal··on Alcatraz: Xcode Package Manager
Alcatraz was a prison known for tight security, so I am guessing that based on their motto "…your plugins are mine…" the project is just trying to tie all the external projects into one secured location. But I am just guessing.

Others may have more cynical views, though.

Here is the project list: https://github.com/mneorr/alcatraz-packages/blob/master/pack...

signalsignal··on Apple reports $9.5 billion second quarter profit
Steve Jobs big plan was to sell a computer for under a thousands dollars, given that macs used to cost over two thousand dollars in the "monopoly" years. And it was not only accomplished on the Mac platform when he returned to the company, but also on the mobile platform by releasing a computer less than five-hundred dollars with the iPad accomplishing Bill Gate's vision with Origami(1).

signalsignal··on Apple reports $9.5 billion second quarter profit
Mac sales are critical in that they are also development machines used internally as well as their "partners" who create and sell apps for the platform. Apple will never abandon the Mac platform even if it looses them money.
signalsignal··on "Make something people want" poster
I think the "Make something that works" poster isn't available.
signalsignal··on Why developers are leaving the Facebook platform
Yes. The Windows-Intel platform is fully backwards compatible back to Windows 3.1 with 32-bit.
signalsignal··on The market for paid iOS apps isn’t dead
> The parent also said that particular app is well established and that his newer apps do not fair as well.

Wrong. The parent post claimed that the higher cost app $12.99 led to much higher revenue than the lower priced apps at FREE with ads and $.99 to $1.99 cost. In fact so much so that the parent post wrote that no more low cost premium or premium apps would be developed.

Please, do your research so as to not waste people's time correcting you on this website.

signalsignal··on Why aren't younger Americans driving anymore?
Two main reasons:

1) Youth income is low given low employment and a stagnant economy which some would call a recession.

2) High gas prices means less cars and more public transit.

signalsignal··on Why developers are leaving the Facebook platform
Windows RT didn't break any compatibility because Windows RT was built on the ARM hardware platform. Win32 was just a software platform on Intel's hardware platform and won't work on ARM's hardware.

I never claimed suicides don't count, so I have no idea what you are referring to.
signalsignal··on Did an Apple 2.0 story touch a nerve at Samsung HQ?
I'd rather not engage in political arguments especially on this site.
signalsignal··on Why does America lose its head over 'terror' but ignore its daily gun deaths?
In the US gun suicides outnumber gun homocides, so the gun control advocates add them together and call it gun violence to inflate the numbers for political reasons.

The parent post just stated that he made 5-6k per month off of a single iPad app. Can you back up your claims with facts?
