sieabahlpark··on Netflix Updates Corporate Culture Memo
Good riddance to those employees who walked out.
sieabahlpark··on Cloudflare Pub/Sub: Programmable MQTT Message Brokers
Just provide an Aws IAM type interface and everyone would be happy. Also don't charge for it, because that just states your systems literally were not designed with authorization in mind.
sieabahlpark··on Cloudflare Pub/Sub: Programmable MQTT Message Brokers
People are butt hurt that SNS doesn't allow the "subscribe" portion. A webhook is a push action.

They forget SQS exists...

sieabahlpark··on Cloudflare Pub/Sub: Programmable MQTT Message Brokers
Sounds like a SQS if you want to subscribe. SNS is for push notifications?
sieabahlpark··on Finding it hard to get a new job? Robot recruiters might be to blame
The guardian sells tabloid-esque stories in order to enrage the people who can't get jobs. It gives them a reason to point to the company as the problem not the individual.
sieabahlpark··on Swimlanes for Trello
Now you can subject yourself to terrible billing from Atlassian
sieabahlpark··on Ashton Kutcher’s non-profit, Thorn, supports EU plans for CSAM scanning
The EU isn't democratic in the first place. Partly is the reason why it needs to go away.
sieabahlpark··on I Miss Heroku's DevEx
You could just stream the updates to the cli. You'd have to be okay with using a command that handles pushing for you.
sieabahlpark··on Android Chrome 99 expands Certificate Transparency, breaking all MitM dev tools
Well it'd be gone anyway, I'd just use one of my other emails.
sieabahlpark··on Jack Dorsey says he agrees with reversing Trump's Twitter ban
Your assumption that everyone is so stupid that they automatically believe everything is actually quite racist and authoritarian.

You assume people can't think for themselves in any capacity so you need to protect them. That's an authoritarian mindset that needs to be removed from this country entirely.

sieabahlpark··on A US college is shutting down for good following a ransomware attack
Just sounds like a way to launder money out of the school systems.
sieabahlpark··on Docker Extensions: Discover, Build and Integrate New Tools into Docker Desktop
It's a shame Docker's TOS change killed its usage outright in smaller companies who can't afford the per-seat license.
sieabahlpark··on Climate simulations are mostly accurate, study finds
Simulations will always be simulations as we will always fail to capture the sheer amount of data involved in climate.
sieabahlpark··on Disney Copyrights Targeted in Bill Proposed by Sen. Josh Hawley
Anything that kills the copyright law industry is a win for literally everyone.
sieabahlpark··on Disinformation Is a Threat to Our Democracy
It's sad that this is a joke in the first place?
sieabahlpark··on Amazon abruptly fires senior managers tied to unionized warehouse
Not if it was literally covered up systemically at each warehouse where the issues lie?

They're not omniscient.

sieabahlpark··on Inkdrop: Organizing your Markdown notes made simple
Wow, a Mac and ios exclusive app that I can't use on my android or Windows machine!

So incredibly useful to me since I don't own a Mac at all, nor any iphone. Perhaps if you considered that people use other operating systems you'd see why your solution is a nonstarter and electron will continue to dominate the area?

sieabahlpark··on Ask HN: How to Monetize Open-Source Software?
How about we as a society understand that not everything written is worth paying for?

People need to treat open source as contributing openly to society with no expectation of return. Conversely there is no guarantee the maintainer has to listen or do anything anyone says.

If people want to support you can charge to support.

sieabahlpark··on GraphQL Is a Trap?
Everything is easier to use with rest because it's so simple it works with curl trivially.
sieabahlpark··on We fixed f-string typos in popular Python repos
The issue they had is being part of the advertisement, not that the bot did the work.

Everyone is out for notoriety and street cred instead of just doing good for the community.

sieabahlpark··on Digital Berlin wall: How the German prototype for online censorship went global
Any censorship is disgusting and should be rejected. Regardless of context.

Disagreement with that means you're a threat to democracy, period.

sieabahlpark··on Elon Musk and Twitter Reach Deal for Sale
It'd almost be like every single website has those problems in the first place. Do you suddenly think he's going to turn off the csam filter?

Those people would still be banned because csam content isn't free speech.

sieabahlpark··on EFF: Twitter Has a New Owner. Here’s What He Should Do
There's a handy verge article that explains how to deactivate and stop participating in Twitter. You're more than capable of achieving that yourself.
sieabahlpark··on EFF: Twitter Has a New Owner. Here’s What He Should Do
He seems to understand how to run a few successful companies at this point. So I think your fears are unfounded.
sieabahlpark··on Gen Z does not dream of labor
Doesn't seem like the rest of the world's universal healthcare did any better than ours?

You have farfetched dreams that government run anything would somehow be not shit. You'd hardly get any coverage and I doubt the deductible would be anywhere sufficient.

sieabahlpark··on Gen Z does not dream of labor
Perhaps you would find most plumbers wouldn't live in a city with a rent of 1.2k/mo?

Is that really all your definitive "false" relies on? Hell I know tradesmen that make well over that and live in more rural areas.

sieabahlpark··on Gen Z does not dream of labor
Cool it marx. This just comes off as an angst ridden teenager throwing up his hands shouting "I give up!". Rather than evaluating what careers can get them where they want to be.
sieabahlpark··on Ask HN: Why did the ruble stabilize and what's going on?
Wow the world's manufacturing plant wonders what it can get out of having Russia be an exclusive customer.

No way that can't backfire on the US! I swear a lot of arguments completely ignore how willing China is to put down the West.

sieabahlpark··on Ask HN: How do you feel about Chrome becoming a browser monopoly?
It has so much you barely mentioned any of them! What a low effort attempt at shilling for Firefox.

Mozilla doesn't care about your privacy or security.

sieabahlpark··on The bottom is dropping out of Netflix
I think complaining about wokeness with "Cuties" is completely reasonable reason to cancel. A few people I know cancelled. I also know once they start cracking down on password sharing they will also cancel.

Don't sugar coat a poorly run company with equally opinionated reasoning.
