A US college is shutting down for good following a ransomware attack

I wonder how that's possible. How can all those systems have been affected yet they can say for certain no PII was exposed?

Article clarifies that the reason is that they have a budget shortfall (caused due to the ransomware attack). The ransomware attack has been fully resolved.

I suspect this is the first tiny domino. It's going to become normal for hundreds of colleges to close every year. Buckle up.
