Elon knows you can do a lot of stuff while being a CEO. if you're super competent it can be done in a few minutes per week if that, same with being a father of a child.
It's always weird to me how much more Google gets called out for its limited cooperation with China than the likes of Microsoft, Apple and Tesla which are doing full blown business as usual there, implying much better relations with the CCP than Google.
"Tax cuts to corporations" maybe makes for a good sound byte in some crowds but what they're really after and benefits them way more and will cause way more deficits is the income tax.
Totally agreed with the fist paragraph but after that you're ignoring the existence of Waymo today, which people generally feel comfortable in and around where they are. Elons marketing is so strong even the doubters feel like Tesla is the leader of the pack.
His companies are supporting each other in weird ways like xAi intercepting Tesla's GPUs, xAi being separate from X which is where it's used, Boring building one of its few tunnels in a Tesla factory for ???, the employees from one working at another, etc. there's probably a lot of shenanigans going on to make each company look OK at the right times.
The one that has to be somewhat transparent is looking pretty shaky
Good it was reprehensible that tech attention or gullible government/bank money would be going to something that isn't owned by Elon. Only he can save us
I doubt it's tied to the commercial "millions" is probably easily met through the search blurb "AI overviews" or people who have accepted it on their phones or google homes
Most unfireable CEO ever despite very obviously harming the company more than working there. If they replaced him with someone who would actually work for Tesla the Robotaxi/Optimus stories would not longer hold water (probably the first thing CEO would do was reset expectations so they don't get blamed for the lies) and it would quickly be valued way less than Toyota.
They have a competent skin tone and sex. All these questions about "competence" and "merit" come up if a woman or black person have a professional career but look at recent hires for DoD head, Andreessen Horowitz partner, or DOGE and you see what they really mean
What I've learned recently from these meritocracy advocates is competence is about your skin color. Black person working on a plane = disaster waiting to happen, no further evidence needed, but if you've got a nice and competent skin color and no other relevant credentials you're good to go at Andreessen Horowitz
She was the biggest Elon suckup of all and now going all over the place pretending otherwise. Maybe calling Zuck beta and tech employees spoiled will keep one foot in the door with Elon
This was in case anyone was still talking about something else besides Elon. There was still some conversation about the crash in the MSM, if it's topical he must put himself in the middle of it
Google has always been the company that looms over whatever next-gen hyped things the VC crowd can invest in (or whatever field Elon can pretend to be far ahead in). I even think it being perceived as so liberal has moved these people to the right instead of "libertarian" as they used to claim so they can hit it politically
The Bureau is an even better spy show IMO though I loved both. Something about how low key and realer The Bureau feels makes it more intense. It felt like The Wire to me though completely different shows.
Texas isn't a good suggestion for everyone, they don't have any of the structures in place to compete with Delaware or Nevada, but if you're the right person Paxton will do everything in his power or not in his power to accommodate you so it's a no brainer
It's not about the product. Yeah sales are down and FSD might not ever work without supervision but there's always Optimus or the next thing.
It's not about what Tesla is doing it's about investing in the world's foremost expert in every field he has ever heard of. You can't put a value on that
Nice to see someone famous in tech with the balls to call him out. Seems like besides Yann lecun everyone else still scared to point out how nuts he is even guys he attacks all the time like Sam Altman, Zuck and Bezos
The sympathy for this guy from so many of you makes me sad.
The messages show he wanted and thought he was getting people murdered. But that's perfectly OK because it was actually the evil FBI he was talking to!
The "tech community" is used to label both the very liberal on average big tech employees and the PayPal Mafia/VC people who have very different politics. Lately the latter have been much louder.
He will do anything so that his biggest fans love him even more. They think this was so based and now he's a god among men for doing this so all is well
Yup I'd be ok with banning TikTok because all of the US web services that are banned China, but this makes it seem like every country should have their own everything
He's yanking your chain. They both like to tease that they're the same person. Dittmann because it's probably become his livelihood and Elon because he can not get enough attention in this world.
Not skimping on sensors and having invested much more time and money and compute than their competitors.
They were doing it first by years and have been spending the most on it throughout so not surprising they'd be ahead. Even now they've probably got several times more employees working on autonomy than Tesla
