shreyshrey··on AWS acquires Wickr
you should test AirSend.
shreyshrey··on WhatsApp and most alternatives share the same problem
Recommend trying out https://www.airsend.io. It is not tied to phone and it has a web/desktop client.
shreyshrey··on Taboola to go public at $2.6B valuation
So how many will buy this stock (TBLA) thinking it is TSLA?
shreyshrey··on Salesforce Signs Definitive Agreement to Acquire Slack
Shameless plug. AirSend (https://www.airsend.io) offers the bare essentials one need to collaborate with both internal team members & external clients in one elegant package. Collaborating across organization boundaries is really hard with both ms teams and slack. Thats the problem we are trying to solve with airsend.

AirSend gives you a few simple (chat, voice/video, files, tasks and wiki) but powerful tools and then get out of the way.

shreyshrey··on Oracle Wins Bid for TikTok in U.S.
Yes. I think you are right. ByteDance is not selling Tiktok outright. They will be using oracle cloud infrastructure. But not sure if that will be enough for the current administration. It feels like tiktok is playing smart.
shreyshrey··on Slack Files EU Competition Complaint Against Microsoft
You are spot on. For effective team communication, one need a healthy mix of sync (voice/video calls, chat) and async communication (wiki, task management and documents) . That is the whole premise of our apps (https://www.airsend.io). It brings both sync and async tools in one space to minimize context switching. MS Teams is better in that respect (context switching) when compared to Slack. But Teams UI/UX is really confusing and thier forced integration of tools just adds too much complexity.
shreyshrey··on Q2 2020 Update
The price of the stock is more about the future than the past. The market thinks Tesla has enough moat to obliterate the competition in the future i think.
shreyshrey··on Ask HN: What are your go to SaaS products for startups/MVPs?
Here is a list of apps we use to run our marketing team : https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23154800
shreyshrey··on YC S20 Remote Batch
We have specifically built airsend (https://www.airsend.io/) to solve remote collaboration use cases like this (especially if the use case involves collaboration among multiple teams across organization boundaries). We will be thrilled if YC could check us out. AirSend will be a great addition to YC's online platform, video conferencing and founders forum.
shreyshrey··on Google bans Zoom from employees' computers
Yes. I find jitsi one-on-one audio call is better than zoom. Screenshare is equivalent to skype if you set the fps to 15. zoom is better for videos if it involve large number of users.
shreyshrey··on Why 99% of Your Email Doesn’t Matter
We did a check on our inboxes few months back. Approximately out of 100 emails, 1 to 3 are important to store in some other app other than email.
shreyshrey··on How the Zoom macOS installer does its job without you clicking ‘install’
Yes. My experience is really bad too in mac OS. I thought may be something wrong with my setup.
shreyshrey··on Ask HN: What remote collaboration software is everyone using?
You need both synchronous (chat, audio/video call) and asynchronous (email, discourse, wiki) tools to get work done. There is a place for both.
shreyshrey··on Ask HN: Any ideas for fun / bonding things to do via Zoom?
We telecasted a company wide talent show via zoom.

shreyshrey··on Federal Reserve slashes interest rates to zero
Let us say hypothetically the congress approves FED to buy stocks and ETF. Just curious what will they buy: s&p index, total market index or something else.

Let us say if they buy one index, will it be fair for companies who are not in the index?

shreyshrey··on Secret-sharing app Whisper left users’ locations, fetishes exposed on the Web
Good observation
shreyshrey··on Tests indicate coronavirus can survive in the air up to 3 hours
scary if it is true.
shreyshrey··on How We Created a Brand Story for Our MVP – Part 2
apologize. put the wrong link accidentally. edited it now.
shreyshrey··on How We Created a Brand Story for Our MVP – Part 2

shreyshrey··on Oil plummets 30% as OPEC deal failure sparks price war fears
I think both KSA and Russia eventually will come to an agreement. Current oil prices are not sustainable for KSA. Their budget deficit is already touching 7% of their GDP (https://mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKBN1XA2EO). If they need to balance their budget they need the oil price to be at 71$.
shreyshrey··on SXSW Cancelled Due to Coronavirus
Just got this email from SXSW: https://www.airsend.io/images/sxsw_deferral.png

2020 registrants can opt to defer to 2021,2022 or 23

shreyshrey··on SXSW Cancelled Due to Coronavirus
What? How can they do that?
shreyshrey··on City of Austin Cancels SXSW March Events
Yes. We are fine with it. Correct decision by the city. Wish they could have done this little earlier. We would have saved some money - banners, t-shirts and other stuff.
shreyshrey··on SXSW Cancelled Due to Coronavirus
What I am hearing is SXSW cannot get the insurance payout if they unilaterally cancel the event. Thatswhy they have waited the city and Austin Public Health to make the decision for them. Same thing with SaaStr as well - They waited for the Santa Clara county to make the decision.
shreyshrey··on City of Austin Cancels SXSW March Events
We have reserved a booth and planned to launch our SaaS product in SXSW. Hopefully they will refund. Probably a local positive coronavirus discovery forced the city. Just guessing.
shreyshrey··on Guide to running Elasticsearch in production
Just relevant parts. ES says their max size is 100 mb. We have a real life scenario where we want to index millions of office documents to find PII/PHI

What is the realistic expectation here. Should we say 50 mb. How everybody else do?

shreyshrey··on Guide to running Elasticsearch in production
For ES and solr gurus here what is the recommended max size for documents if you want to index lot of office documents?
shreyshrey··on Discord is not an acceptable choice for free software projects
Check out https://www.airsend.io. We are getting started and it works well in our private testing with couple of thousand users. Currently we have apps for ios and android.
shreyshrey··on Debt is coming to the tech industry
not sure of one specific number. Say you have achieved product market fit and the lifetime value of your customers (LTV) is less than three times the cost of acquisition, you probably be better of getting leverage from debt and gain marketshare. Depends on the market you operate though.
shreyshrey··on Debt is coming to the tech industry
Think of debt as a way to gain market leverage. Leverage is good if you are reasonably certain of the outcome.
