shlubbert··on Industrial design files for Keychron keyboards and mice
I wonder if investing in a cup holder would've been a better option
shlubbert··on Open Sauce is a confoundingly brilliant Bay Area event
Someone tell me where to sign up because I'd love to get some funding for a new 3D printer.
shlubbert··on Claude's Character
I suppose the audience here never watched The Office.
shlubbert··on 00Key a 75% Keyboard
Luckily the keyboard enthusiast community has something for everyone: https://mechboards.co.uk/products/hyper-7-v4
shlubbert··on Short Stack: World’s smallest Nintendo Wii
This is damn impressive. There's also a slightly more detailed build log in this forum thread: https://bitbuilt.net/forums/index.php?threads/project-short-...
shlubbert··on WindCon2024: A Joke Too Far for Many
Perhaps the problem was that none of this actually seemed funny...?
shlubbert··on IEEE no longer accepts Lena image containing submissions from 4/1 onward
It's referencing an image created with pornographic intent. This is not that difficult, come on.
shlubbert··on IEEE no longer accepts Lena image containing submissions from 4/1 onward
> We believe that the history of the Lena image clashes with the extensive efforts to promote women undertaking higher education in science and engineering

This sounds pretty easy to understand to me, and like the main reason for the decision.

shlubbert··on IrfanView
I'm with you. To me IrfanView always felt incredibly archaic and chaotic, and I never wanted to wade through its 5 billion settings to "fix" it for me. But I guess some people just care more about UX while others just want as many features as possible, and I'm glad it's there for the latter camp.
shlubbert··on Google's AI-powered search results are loaded with spammy, scammy garbage
So like regular Google search results then?
shlubbert··on One of the most anticipated AI gadgets now has a release date
This thing is gonna look great on people's shelves
shlubbert··on Honda and Nissan might team up against Tesla and other EV rivals
Add "getting distracted by hideous vanity projects like the Cybertruck" to that list.
shlubbert··on Wintergatan Marble Machine (2016) [video]
Perhaps one could even apply AI and put it on the blockchain!
shlubbert··on X blocks Taylor Swift searches after fake AI videos go viral
Because now everyone with half a brain can create hundreds of these images in minutes, whereas previously it took substantial time investment and skill.
shlubbert··on Nightshade: An offensive tool for artists against AI art generators
Beautifully put. I wish this nuance was more widely understood in the current AI debate.
shlubbert··on Threestudio – Framework for 3D content generation
Rather confusing that this is seemingly completely unrelated to three.js
shlubbert··on Safe AI Image Generation
Something something binary thinking
shlubbert··on Safe AI Image Generation
It's sad that people seem to be consistently incapable of understanding this nuance; same with the "but humans also learn by studying existing work!" argument that always come up when discussing the ethics of training and datasets.
shlubbert··on DALL-E 3 is now publicly available inside Bing
Probably another shot at some kind of universal AI assistant since Cortana didn't really take off.
shlubbert··on Raspberry Pi 5
You've gotta back up claims like that with at least some kind of citation or it just comes across like libel.
shlubbert··on Unity Can Get Fucked
They have another game in development using Valve's Source 2 engine so that'd probably be the most likely option for them.
shlubbert··on OpenAI Aquires the Domain Chatgpt.com
Curious that they apparently sold ai.com to Musk's venture — it used to redirect to OpenAI.
shlubbert··on Ford 021C Concept Car (1999)
The car is actually named after the color code for that particular shade of orange — Pantone 021 C!
shlubbert··on ZSA Voyager: Low profile split keyboard
You can turn it off.
shlubbert··on Show HN: A simple, open-source Notion-like avatar generator
Just imagining an alternative way this conversation could've gone:

A: "Glad you were inspired by our illustrations! Please give credit to the artists that originally created them though. I also think you might be missing some of the painterly details that make the Notion style unique :)"

B: "This probably falls under fair use, but I agree it'd be nice to respect their artistry."

shlubbert··on Worldcoin ignored initial order to stop iris scans in Kenya, records show
They may have been better at one point, but at least in my social circle pretty much everybody has given up on AirBnB due to numerous bad experiences and constantly complains about content now being spread across a dozen streaming services.
shlubbert··on Acronym’s new computer with Asus is bonkers, but that’s the point
I find it healthiest to just avoid any discussions on HN that touch design or art. They never go well.
shlubbert··on Lego’s new $200 Concorde is a fantastic homage to the supersonic passenger jet
It would have to be like 7ft long for that.
shlubbert··on Govt warns kenyans about Worldcoin
I've heard it works pretty well for buying drugs online.
shlubbert··on How to find a street in 2 minutes [video]
How dare someone mention some common sense tips as a tiny part of a video. Shameful!
