shard972··on Friendship ended with Deno, now Node is my best friend
Bun is awesome. It feels great these days to start with bun or convert a nodejs app over and reduce deps down, sometimes to 0.

Ive just gone all in, no more mega bash scripts that constantly bug out on the silliest problems whenever you try to do anything complex involving a list data type.

It just feels like its something you can pretty much always bend towards what you need without needing to breakout into another language and I'm keen to see some of the new performance stuff their continuing to work on.

shard972··on OpenAI breaches Medicare, Albanese reveals
Is it robbery when in this case it was a sign with information that you were planning on putting on your front fence for public display but while preparing it was left sitting in the front yard with a small fence.

If I walked past, saw it and remembered it or even recorded it, is that honestly theft?

shard972··on Mercury 2.5 LLM hits 770 tokens per second
Yea i had some pretty meh results using gpt-oss-120b it in my evals where it should have benefited speed alot but it really under performed what i was expecting.
shard972··on OpenAI breaches Medicare, Albanese reveals
From everything ive been able to figure out this morning, it sounds like a legacy wordpress website that just uploaded all drafts into a standard s3 bucket that wasn't hard to guess where the files would be.

We still after the 2nd press conference on this by our defense minister are not clear on exactly what happened but thats my best laymen understanding so far.

shard972··on GPT-5.6 Luna vs. GPT-6 Astra: Is a $1.20 Model Good Enough for Code Review?
What if your working on work that isn't easily worktreeable due to available resources but you want to work on multiple things? Seems pretty normal to leverage CI as a cloud compute resource instead of clogging up the machine i use to interact with my agents and communicate with others.
shard972··on Some thoughts about Anthropic's new cryptanalysis results
What you describe would still be limited with so called AGI due to the existing organizational, legal and social structures around basic things like responsibility. We could have scifi level robots available today and these non-tech issues would still need to be resolved for a company to just fire all it's employees.
shard972··on Open-weight AI is having its Kubernetes moment
I used to reach for swarm when i needed just a bit of distributed computing but frankly kuberenetes is quite mature now and with AI and a declarative setup with something like FluxCD its just so easy to work with now.
shard972··on Codex Resets
As someone who has been riding a lot of these to get max usage, more often than not Thursday/Friday there is a claude reset the last few months, even before fable's initial release.
shard972··on Portland is not burning. Here's live context and sourced fact checks
I don't see how this convinces anyone on the other side that has other evidence that is not being displayed here. Lying through omission used to work before the internet but in the age of social media, a few hand curated fact checks isn't going to shift the needle and probably just makes people more dug in on their positions.

shard972··on Show HN: Hacker League – Open-Source Rocket League on Linux
when esports mostly exists as a loss leader to sell video games I don't quite see this vision anytime soon.
shard972··on Documentation for the AMD 7900XTX
As someone who basicially grew up with Intel/Nvidia but now running AMD/AMD, while i could agree with you on the GPU side that AMD still has more work to do, I would hard disagree on the CPU side.

Especially with the X3D line, AMD cpus can absolute smoke intel and at worst, come within a single percentage of performance in usually single thread bound scenarios.

shard972··on The German group buying ticket dodgers out of prison
I don't think it's fair to say that an entire race is somehow inferior.

Maybe it's just that in your experience that most Turkish controllers express these traits.

shard972··on Speed isn’t everything, and slowness may in fact be more beneficial (2017)
IQ is well defined and can be measured relatively accurately. There is extremely little chance of someone testing 70 IQ vs 130 IQ is going to be "more intelligent" on pretty much any metric you come up.
shard972··on Bun 0.3
It actually had developers. It was a political move by the devs against joynet who were refusing to give up full control of nodejs.

shard972··on Eve Online's most notorious player has quit the game
About time mittens was removed. So much of this was known for years but ignored because of his status outside the world of EVE Online, and thus the absolute position of power he crafted for himself within GSF.
shard972··on The Crime That Killed Shinzo Abe
The 3rd I believe. The point of the article is to show Abe's connection to the church through political alliances developed since his grandfather and the Japanese media is at some level seeking to downplay the prevalence of anti-religious extremism.
