shanellem··on Rovio is OUT OF CONTROL with their licensing
It's getting ridiculous. How much money could they possibly be making from Angry Birds tape?
shanellem··on The Case for In-App Messaging Vs Email Marketing - (Thoughts?)
I haven't seen many people do in-app messaging effectively, but I think it's an awesome idea. Looking forward to seeing the tech that makes this work!
shanellem··on Clarity Answers: Quora with a business model?
I'm a huge fan of Clarity. It's awesome that there's a text-based option now.
shanellem··on Ten Years of Bootstrapping: Lessons Learned
I really liked the part about everything scaling. I hate when people say, "It wouldn't have scaled." It would have. You just weren't thinking of it in the right way.
shanellem··on 12 Resources To Help Generate More Leads
This is solid advice: "You need to find the balance between what you're giving away and the barrier to getting it." It's a common mistake to overlook this.
shanellem··on How Much of Your Copy Is Totally Irrelevant? A Case for Web Personalization
Honestly, I think it's a given that web personalization is deeply rooted in A/B testing. But instead of testing for what's best for the aggregate, you're testing for what's best for each individual.
shanellem··on Ask HN: Your opinion of Bootstrap
I have to agree. I couldn't have said it better.
shanellem··on Is it too late to be awesome?
This reminds me of the saying: "Never compare your beginning to someone else's middle." It's never too late to start, so it's never too late to be awesome.
shanellem··on Building a Successful Remote Team
I worked remotely for years. While I like working in-office better, there were plenty of tools to help keep me connected from across the country.
shanellem··on Building an E-Commerce Startup to $1M in 12 Months
I was getting that too, but it looks like it's fixed now.
shanellem··on Pitching Hack: It’s Not What You Said, It’s How You Made Them Feel
I couldn't agree more. The same thing goes for social media. I think this rule is pretty universal.
shanellem··on Letting Go and Allowing Your Career to Flow
This is an awesome post. I really admire Natalie and everything she's done with She Takes On The World.
shanellem··on Product Pricing: More Art than Science
"If you decide to raise the price, you can grandfather in all of your existing customers, and if you decide to lower it, you can give them all the new price."

Not doing this is one of the biggest mistakes companies can make re: pricing.

shanellem··on Write the f*cking manual
Love this. Clicked for the title, but stayed for the content. Great point. Will definitely be writing the manual.
shanellem··on You aren't getting any better
I really liked this post and completely agree with the message. We tend to equate each year of experience with "getting better". That's just not always the case. It has to be deliberate. You have to be curious!
shanellem··on Why firing brilliant assholes is required to build a great engineering culture
This reminds me of the post Rand from SEOmoz wrote on his personal blog a while ago. Great read.
shanellem··on What were we thinking? Harlem Shake Office Style
The taco flag completes the video! Hah. Nice one.
shanellem··on How To Stay Organized Like a CEO
I'm a big fan of Asana! I actually just discovered it last week. Great article.
shanellem··on The things an entrepreneur will never tell you
Love this! Easy to support someone who is taking the unromantic look at entrepreneurship.
shanellem··on Unlocking Product Market Fit
This is so true:

"You need incredible vision and conviction to be successful. You also need incredible timing and an absurd amount of luck."

Whether or not we'd like to admit it, luck does have a lot to do with success.

shanellem··on Pause Your Inbox: Productivity++
This actually seems like a really great concept. Simple, yes. But definitely something I'd use. Thanks!
shanellem··on An iOS App Marketing Strategy Guide
Wow! This is awesome. Definitely an "ultimate guide" to app marketing.
shanellem··on The One Skill Startup Employees Need Most
This reminds me of the debate of hiring generalists or specialists. I think you should definitely hire generalists in the early stages.
shanellem··on Serial Entrepreneur Shares His Secrets To Making $1M Revenue
Fantastic interview. Especially the last few lines:

There are not right and wrong choices. I’ve done both of these things and had a great time with both of them. The only mistake is to not choose — try to straddle the path — or to choose the path which ultimately will not make you happy or fulfilled.

shanellem··on Fund Raising Tips from The Youngest Person To Raise Venture Capital
Brian Wong is a huge inspiration for anyone hitting the startup scene young.

Great interview.

shanellem··on How to Master Life
I like the focus on value. Find what you value most and do only those things.

Great read.

shanellem··on The Creative Confessional
Saw this on Fast Company the other day. Some of them are hilarious.
shanellem··on How Money Can Hurt Employee Motivation [INFOGRAPHIC]
Only 42% of employees are engaged at work? That's crazy.
shanellem··on How do you manage a team of geeks?
Honestly, I think these rules apply to most employees, not just geeks. But there are some great tips here!
shanellem··on Behaviors That Destroy Your Financial Health
Interesting take on finances. I wouldn't have made the connection between these disorders and money.
