Hi there, software engineer here. I was laid off from a climate tech (solar) company in December ‘22. Bonus points for doing it a week out from christmas!

you can do eccentric overloaded training. check out flywheel machines like exerfly.

As someone who cannot manage alcohol (sober four years) id like to ask those of you who get something out of a 30 day abstinence, or find it appealing, what’s the appeal? If you don’t have a problem with drinking, why do you think a 30 day refrain will improve something in your life. If there is benefit, doesn’t this indicate a problem? Or do you think taking 30 days away will fix the problem?

Not trying to be judge mental. This is more like an alien wanting to know how earthlings live kinda thing.

Why be a negative twat?

These are some bold claims. Id like to see some evidence.

The problem with your example is that it assumes there is a place for him to go to. Stable hands becoming mechanics. That is the key concern with automation replacing jobs is that it is a zero sum game.

I really enjoyed Nutshell. Although it is narrated by an unborn fetus (really) it is still pretty verbose, if that’s what you meant by painful exposition. I’ve only read parts of Amsterdam and it just seems to be his way.

An aside: Why is it that most posts about a new product or project some people have put together is usually greeted with skepticism and negativity in HN comments? What is that all about? It is a pattern Ive continuously seen and it seems like only the true home runs receive any kind of praise.

Most replies are either about lack of evidence or someone’s alternative preference. I see that latter one a good deal.

Typically, when apologizing, you should name the person you are apologizing to. Otherwise, they might do something like not acknowledge your apology.

Or…you know…vegetables have fiber and meat doesn’t?

Snarky comments are definitely worse.

Citation desperately needed.

I’ve been on the fence about getting a Lego Boost for my five year old as well. Your comment made me pull the trigger finally, thanks!
