seungwoolee518··on Unlicensing
I think most of the OSS project should be a Open Source.

But sadly, some of the projects are rant from others time and they've gone to close or non permissive. (AGPL is great but "attitude" is bad, they're using LICENSE as a strategic way of Business.)

seungwoolee518··on Ask HN: Is Slack Down?

seungwoolee518··on Building a Linux Container Runtime from Scratch
When I was digging into Container (a.k.a it uses linux namespace capabilities) lwn.net's series of article helps me a lot.

seungwoolee518··on Mercedes-Benz Drives Toward Solid-State EV Batteries
Oh, I see. Thanks.
seungwoolee518··on Mercedes-Benz Drives Toward Solid-State EV Batteries
Is the Solid State Battery claimed by Mercedes-Benz safer than the batteries currently used in EVs? In 2024, a Mercedes electric vehicle caught a major fire in my country (South Korea), which has led to a rise in electric vehicle phobia and even places where parking is completely prohibited.
seungwoolee518··on Ask HN: What is the great (or better) option to replicate storage?
> What stateful apps are you running?

- Databases. (Usually PostgreSQL, seems like it's pretty easy to setup to replicate between PostgreSQL instances.)

- Qdrant, or milvus. (seems like they're support replication between instances, we've *accidentally* running a replicated DB on Single Ceph Cluster)

- Some user generated contents. (usually from Jupyter Environment)

> Sounds like you want to do your own storage infra?

We don't actually have a "storage infra". it's just a bunch (I really don't think 2 HDD is a part of "Bunch") of disks attached to each machines (or node).

seungwoolee518··on Home Manager: Dotfiles Management

seungwoolee518··on Is ChatGPT Search Going to Disrupt Google Search?
When I use Search supported LLM service, I've always do this question by myself.

1. What's the source of the Search?

2. Do they crawl any website to make an Index?

When I compare search results with Google (or alternatives) it shows some similar results. I hope it's just a part of happening for me.

seungwoolee518··on Nix Team member suggests dropping flakes; data suggest otherwise
How can I manage different projects with different nix package version without `flake`?
seungwoolee518··on Show HN: HN Update – Hourly News Broadcast of Top HN Stories
Yeah. You're right.

My morning routine is Checking HN with Coffee. So with your service I can minimize some time to click around and figure out what the root cause is.

seungwoolee518··on Show HN: HN Update – Hourly news broadcast of top HN stories
Wow... Really great.

Can you add some historical archive to listen n hours ago (or morning briefing like) summary as a feature?

seungwoolee518··on Ask HN: How did you replace Teleport?
If you need only SSH, you can try ContainerSSH[1] - it's pretty simple to setup & integrate using OPA for authorization.

It supports to record each Session and save to various sources.

seungwoolee518··on I Self-Hosted Llama 3.2 with Coolify on My Home Server
Thanks, I was bit confused on install a CUDA Toolkit on the Host. (Because I don't install any software except Driver && Toolkit)
seungwoolee518··on I Self-Hosted Llama 3.2 with Coolify on My Home Server
Great post!

However, Do I need to Install CUDA toolkit on host?

I haven't install CUDA toolkit when I use on Containerized platform (like docker)

seungwoolee518··on Ask HN: Who is using immutable OSes?
I've used Talos Linux[1] on a production infrastructure. To keep a Maintainability. (Because there are no person to maintain a infrastructure 24/7)

All the configurations are made and came from YAML. So I can manage and share on Git. And able to spin a new node (or cluster) ASAP.

For my own, I'm using a NixOS as a daily driver. It's pretty great to spin up machine and environment ASAP. (I don't know why I keep saying `ASAP`, but time is a money.)

However the downside is require a strong knowledge of Nix Language. Sometime the installer crashses.

seungwoolee518··on DuckDB – State of Project [pdf]
For me, I think DuckDB could not be a replacement of `sqlite`, but I can launch and aggregate from different sources of data instantly. Without any hassle.

This is a gamechanger for me.

seungwoolee518··on Feldera Incremental Compute Engine
When I saw the title first, I've thought that "one of the os remove l" introduces a new incremental conpute engine?

Anyway, it was very impressive.

seungwoolee518··on Reclaim the Stack
Most of the software should work Out-Of-The-Box, but the real problem is coming from hardware.
seungwoolee518··on Malaysia started mandating ISPs to redirect DNS queries to local servers
So, they're not blocking only porn. They're blocking a wide range of sites with various reasons - for example: selling illegal drugs (including mental, abortion drugs), copyrighted sites (torrent, etc), praise about north korea, etc...

When they've started to terminate TLS, the reason was to terminate illegally shared webtoon (web cartoon) sites.

For more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_censorship_in_South_K...

seungwoolee518··on Malaysia started mandating ISPs to redirect DNS queries to local servers
There are some movies out there (but it's not a porn.) as Ero(tic)-Movie.

It's legal, but it's not a porn.

seungwoolee518··on Malaysia started mandating ISPs to redirect DNS queries to local servers
My country (Korea, South) is also prohibited to get pornography service. (And they also terminate TLS using TLS HELLO)

So, DoH should be work fine for now, but they'll (gov.) terminate HTTPS (or TLS) connection ASAP.

seungwoolee518··on I turned an old phone into a NAS

seungwoolee518··on South Korea to ban Chinese online products without KC certification
And it's pretty slow on border right now (about a week?).

Because government issued a wide range of "war with drug" to filter all the products (IDK how they can achieve it.) on the border.

seungwoolee518··on South Korea to ban Chinese online products without KC certification
No. They'll filter a products based on HS Code.

If you bought a doll (and a doll does not have a HS Code for "Adults") then a doll should have a KC certificate because it cannot be considered "only for adults"

seungwoolee518··on South Korea to ban Chinese online products without KC certification
The point is, they (the local authority, customs) doesn't care about which country is from.

So all country is banned (or require a KC certificate) from importing personal item.
