selectout··on Reserving your Model 3
Awesome, thanks for the clarification on US only, I was not aware of that part.
selectout··on Reserving your Model 3
Is there any chance that putting the $1,000 USD down for reservation will qualify as purchasing the EV and getting the EV Tax Credits before they are all used up? Or is the Model 3 most likely going to be out of contention for those credits as the Model S is well over 100,000 units sold already.

selectout··on Game of Thrones leak and watermark: a stupid tracking system
Unsure how the credits work for Game of Thrones, but if it's like most shows where it's just the rolling black screen at the end of the show then most torrents cut that part off entirely by default.
selectout··on Elon Musk: New Product Launch on Thursday, April 30
I'm guessing this will be the Home Battery that was hinted at earlier this year. I'm curious to see what kind of wear and tear a battery powering an entire home can take and how long it's lifespan is versus it's initial cost.
selectout··on Elon Musk: Tesla cars will have “autopilot mode” by summer
In this instance though, it's more of selective delivering. He is still delivering on many of these features and "futuristic updates" just not on 1 specific piece of hardware.
selectout··on Air Fares 101 – Why do fares change all the time?
From my own experience (from MidWest, live in SF now), $500 is pretty average for a cross country. I can get most places I want to go (any major US City not completely across country) for about $150-$300 though and these are all round trips. It's just when I go from SF <-> NYC/Boston/DC that I get the $500-$700 range. Or if I just book at horrible times or over holidays.
selectout··on OS X Yosemite
From my experience everything with eclipse and iTerm work well. Don't have too much custom configs going on though.
selectout··on Apple unveils a new Mac Mini
It has 2 thunderbolts and 4 USB 3.0 ports...

selectout··on Anonabox: a Tor hardware router
Ah yea, thanks for that. When I originally clicked the link it was to the wired article, must have been updated to the kickstarter page.
selectout··on Anonabox: a Tor hardware router
This is mentioned in the article including a couple points about the size (safeplug is twice the size so less convenient for taking with you) as well as the security flaws found in September.
selectout··on Privacy vs. User Experience
These companies are selling very different things, it's Apple to oranges comparison.

Also, just because Google does have great products that benefit the consumer for this data collection doesn't mean that selling the user's profiles is worth it. (I personally think it is). I think it should be left to the user to decide, which is why Google has various opt-outs, data deletion, history removal, etc.

selectout··on Inside Google’s Drone-Delivery Program
Great to see efforts like this not primarily focused on just delivering books or groceries but being put to the use for AID and resources that otherwise wouldn't be able to get there in a practical manner.

I'm curious what kind of running time these have though and distance they can travel. Would be great if they could just have 2-3 go for a dozen roundtrips each in circumstances like Katrina.

selectout··on Show HN: Monitorbook – Easily track anything on the web
Wow, seems like everyone has built a version of this. I've been working on something similar as well, and really went for nailing down the element selection. Seems to be a basic duplicate of what you have done. Best of luck.
selectout··on I Liked Everything I Saw on Facebook for Two Days. Here’s What It Did to Me
Would have been interested to see how the ad preferences can be affected over just 48 hours. Obviously FB has years of data on most people, but if a sudden influx of likes occurs it may switch things.

Would have loved to see a before/after snapshot of https://www.facebook.com/ads/preferences/edit/?ad_id=6015766...

selectout··on Motionlead Makes Mobile Ads Effective Again Thanks To Interactive Design
Genuine question: Is that 10% CTR being inflated at all considering these ads are much more likely to be accidentally tapped on? That + the "x" button seems to be unnatural to find.

Or for advertisers do they even really care if they are driving the page counts up on their pages?

selectout··on With Lyft Line, Passengers Can Split Fares for Shared Rides
I understand that this is something that Lyft has obviously been working on for quite awhile and put plenty of resources and thought into, but for some reason I still have a sour taste when they launch this just the day after Uber.

I'm really curious if this was rushed out as a response to Uber or if this specific date/time range was always perceived as the launch time.

selectout··on Ask HN: Do bootstrapped billion-dollar companies exist?
Craigslist I believe was bootstrapped and while it's still private I believe it's valuation is north of $1 billion.
selectout··on Own your own data
This is an idea/concept that has been around for awhile but nobody has been able to execute (well) on it. I like the initial work brought forth through this team and will definitely continue to watch with a close eye.

I think this is a natural progression to the future that the industry doesn't want to happen. Best of luck to the team though and everyone else working on similar projects!

selectout··on Show HN: Download organizer for Mac
All used up, thanks for providing those to the community though! You definitely have me interested enough that I'm purchasing.
selectout··on Show HN: Fortune - Beautfiul Cryptocurrency Tracking for iPhone
Would love to see coinbase (or any other sites) integration. Since I can't really input my own bitcoin address since coinbase has everything online thrown into their own pool.
selectout··on Google Shopping Express
Been using this for a little over a year now and I can honestly say it's become almost a dependency for me. It really is amazing being able to order something and most of the time have it arrive within 3-5 hours or worst case scenario the next morning. I can ship things to work or my home (for free currently), etc. I'm guessing I may hold back on it when they start charging as I could do things like Instacart for quicker service, but at free delivery it is amazing.
selectout··on Last day to apply to YC Hacks
I don't think anyone is saying this is better because it's invite-only. I think it's invite-only so they can keep the total # manageable and make sure all the participants are going to be actual builders instead of wasting others time.
selectout··on Uber Sets Valuation Record of $17B in New Funding
Congrats to Uber, as someone that moved to the Bay Area a little over a year ago, this company has been one of the most reliable and helpful services I've used. It's amazing the growth they've had.
selectout··on OS X Yosemite public beta signup
user gnufied put it best, they changed a bunch of APIs and a lot of my programs were left unworking or crashing much more than usual. With that said, I know that Mavericks was a unique use case, but still might be a good idea to wait for a few reviews.
selectout··on OS X Yosemite public beta signup
Make sure to not install this on your main machine, especially if you have anything of importance on it.

This is still a beta and should be treated as such. I know I had major issues with the last OSX beta I put on mine.

selectout··on Show HN: First Draft (beta) – distraction-free writing for first drafts
Just wrote my first blog post using this and it was actually a nice refreshing experience. Much easier to write I found.

My one gripe is when I export to Google Docs for further editing, it has some weird formatting. The words don't get wrapped, and adding new lines of text pushes everything down a new line, not sure how to get rid of that.

selectout··on Donovan Strain Decodes Ice Cube's Official 'Good Day' as January 20th, 1992
Debunked by Ice Cube himself: http://news.moviefone.com/2012/03/04/ice-cube-good-day/

Edit: This day fits the criteria, but he mentions it's just the aggregate of what makes a good day.

selectout··on Wu-Tang Clan Offered $5M for New Album Only Available as One Copy
They will not, whoever buys it owns all rights to the music and can resell it if they want (Sony, iTunes, Amazon could be buyers for this reason) or could just release it to the world for free.
selectout··on A Tool Will Let You See Anyone’s Email Address on LinkedIn
They could easily be testing many of the gmail + yahoo + other popular accounts as well, doing google searches in the background for "name@gmail.com AND company" to see if the person appears or maybe it really is more than what I thought.

I just thought this way originally because it showed "26 results" for a friend I looked up that I'm not connected to before it gave me the 1 final result that was his email. The 26 results as it was loading showed everything from first@company.com (not active), firstlast@company.com (not active), firstLetterlastName@company.com (not active), etc.

EDIT: So based on it showing so many false positives it looks like it's just queuing up all possibilities than returning whatever it finds works.
