I thrive both in high perspective and in a place of deep focus. My practices boil down to building understanding between realities. And at best, presence.
I LOVE usability testing and conceptual modeling and getting people started with these.
Learning and observing people to understand what makes them tick is at the core of all I do. I want to enable people on the mission to do their best work. I have a masters in computer science & cognitive psychology of UX, and love to do UI work that is rooted in real human needs.
I have grounded my work in commercial applications as well as practicing UX work and software implementation in open source communities. I feel ethics must be at the core of what UX pros do, and I am well versed in having nuanced conversations to keep teams aligned.
A qualified vocational teacher and connection & body awareness coach, I am also available to support people on their path to what’s real and expansive for them.

MacOS comes ready installed, like it or not.
Just stating what needs to be done to gain user trust. I am talking from user perspective: i am not judging linux or its makers.
If it doesn’t work for some purpose on something, set the expectations accordingly on e.g distro website before letting me down after I already invested my time in it. That is okay too.
There could be reasonable vm conf defaults already defined for something as well defined as an m1 mbp.
Yes, I considered asahi. Decided to try vms first. The number of hurdles did not increase my confidence to try to set up a dualboot.
It also reflects that llm help is apparently useless in this area, if one is to trust the responses here. Does the landscape move too fast for them?
Performance sucked bad, particularly on games. Tux games were unplayable. I am confused what the bubble is on hn or on my end. Before that, on utm I think i tried ubuntu. After decades, linux is still hard to try out.
They seemed to think most projects they sell cannot afford usability testing. Which to me seemed weird; after all, casual hallway testing a la joel spolsky really isn't resource intensive.
Reading this what I was more passionate actually developer's grip on reality. Having experienced user testing open my eyes several times, I had a keen sense of how we can delude ourselves into images of what our users ought to be - and in turn, what their domains are about in our heads.

you said, little boy the wheel of the world is best pedalled so softly no one even notices
and beware the day you look behind when speed no longer notices the pedal pressed to the floor
you said, that boy don’t let him loose he doesn’t instantly know which way he should be going
if somewhere comes the sound of good behaviour breaking if somewhere they are having fun without your permission
you wear your shame with pride when you look me in the face I am made in your image
you’d rather be ordinary than stunted in your growth well-behaved rather than torn inside
when you open the cupboard in the morning the skeletons are laughing you don’t know a single one but still they laugh at you
when at night you look into the mirror and see my face I smile at you softly and turn my back
I’ve made every mistake you only dream of making I am made in your image
life is measured by individual achievement, self-actualization through work, being ordinary is failure as you're supposed to present and perform. none of those cultures differ much on that, though maybe on how much you're allowed to express preferences vs. that.
why does this thread read as escapism to so many? because it's a cultural norm people are not aware of, and it gets violated.
The text does not, for instance, encourage not having a job. It also does not encourage being nothing at all. Being nothing special is quite different.

As happy user of qt desktop framework, not sure in what sense it’s dated.
Not sure how qwt relates to this tho? https://qwt.sourceforge.io/
Making coherent ux with it still seems much easier than in qml, it has the right constraints and visual editing it is reasonably lightweight, unlike qml studio. Of course it has its flaws too but UX wise it is still hard to find an equally mature cross platform toolkit.
there’s nothing wrong with building software for yourself. but if your stated goal is giving everyone ownership over their online identity, then usability stops being marketing and starts becoming part of the mission.
good ux isn’t selling out. it’s removing accidental complexity so more people can benefit from the ideas. otherwise you’re not building an alternative to big platforms, you’re building a club for people who enjoy configuring web servers.
Noticed that non-responsive blog layouts are rare these days. Most are from blogspot. So I took a look and realized that blogger nowadays actually supports responsive layouts, but apparently... they are not popular?

Could you perhaps respond to the argumentation here?
From the about page: ” When I’m not writing code, I write prose, short and long, ranging from personal anecdotes in tech to philosophical musings on how technology shapes culture, society, and the individual self.”
I see it being flagged in realtime, please wake up HN.
