oh that evil omnipresent Russia!
sampa··on Plan for Windows 10 End of Support
I run Windows in VM only for gaming (vfio videocard passthrough on Linux). So couldn't care less what's inside - win10 or win11.

sampa··on Speaker Support in Asahi Linux
everything about asahi feels like it's an apple's product: everywhere you look - it is always "amazing"!

but so far no finally usable implementation exists even for m1 macbooks and they age quickly, and I doubt people will see anything usable in the end (yeah, you might get a fully working Linux on your old dusty m1 when you buy m7, happy?).

so far it is achievements for the sake of achievements

sampa··on 2023 Nobel Prize in economics awarded to Claudia Goldin
friendly reminder, that economics is not a science
sampa··on Raspberry Pi 5
I was hoping for usb-c outputs vs miniHDMI (yeah, I know, they probably want to be compatible ith rpi4 cases, but still...)
sampa··on Nearly 500 brands exited smartphone market during 2017-2023
I miss HTC (yeah, they're not dead officially, yet). From making ODM PDAs/phones for Dell/Compaq/HP/Google to becoming one of the top smartphone makers and playing with VR/beats headphones and into oblivion.

Hope somebody writes a book about them.

sampa··on China Bans iPhone Use for Government Officials at Work

sampa··on Total Commander
I've stopped using NC and derivatives since Windows 98 (but in DOS it was a must-have), but if somebody looks for nowadays alternative for Linux, try Far2L https://github.com/elfmz/far2l
sampa··on How South Korea’s birth rate dropped below Japan’s
seems like NK will overwhelm SK by paraphrased Yasser Arafat words: the strongest weapon that the Palestinians have is the womb of Palestinian mothers
sampa··on TSMC faces $70M ransom demand following lockbit cyberattack
let me just tell you that you're in way over your head

ps no offence and I don't expect you to change your opinion or how you view the world

sampa··on TSMC faces $70M ransom demand following lockbit cyberattack
you confuse Russia with some middle-east/asia countries

those hollywood stories about mercs acting as in cia/jason-bourne movie in reality won't fly in Russia

sampa··on Cormac McCarthy has died
I liked this too-simple of a quote, that hits hard, when you have read the book.

"When the lambs is lost in the mountain, he said. They is cry. Sometime come the mother. Sometime the wolf."

sampa··on Logistics challenges of saving Air India’s diverted 777 in Russia
just to note, border control _is_ part of FSB.
sampa··on Logistics challenges of saving Air India’s diverted 777 in Russia

sampa··on Scan iPhone backups for traces of compromise by “Operation Triangulation”
fundamental, of course, no. you're allowed to choose from 2 parties, thinking you're making a difference.
sampa··on Scan iPhone backups for traces of compromise by “Operation Triangulation”
> I am not a person of interest to state security.

you might be surprised. you don't have to be somebody important, you just might be working somewhere interesting or know somebody important.

ps Snowden leaks showed NSA hacked ordinary broadband providers administrators to get access to networks, because POIs were using those providers.

sampa··on Scan iPhone backups for traces of compromise by “Operation Triangulation”
replacing talking heads from 2 parties (that you are allowed to choose from) does not equal replacing government
sampa··on Rarbg Is No More

seems like rutracker.org (ex torrents.ru) is gonna outlive everybody

sampa··on US debt ceiling: Democrats and Republicans agree deal in principle
who would've thought!
sampa··on Debian 12 'Bookworm' New Features and Release Date
I don't get, just remove snapd, mask it in apt and that's it. Oh, and add Firefox repo.

Now it's back to normal.

sampa··on Linux tool to show progress for cp, mv, dd
I always forget about pv, though use status=progess of dd.

When I need it in the middle of process, I just `ls /proc/_pid_/fd` and then take that _fd#_ to `cat /proc/_pid_/fdinfo/_fd#_`

sampa··on Sniffnet: Open-source, cross platform application to monitor network traffic
