Yep thats what low income families need: more cell phones.

This just isnt true about "statistical chance". The IQ distributions are very different and a huge amount of the top talent emigrates anyway. 130 iq is order 1/100 in america and more than 1/1000 in india. Population difference doesnt make up the gap.

really doubt artists are going to do better than pennies in france vs anywhere else. US is a good place to be an artist.

I like this book and everyone complaining about the math and math notation is a silly goose.
runsWphotons··on Colorado wolf reintroduction to move forward
Wolves seem somewhat scary in a different way in that they can work together. I just posted that link since someone asked. I would be inclined to guess this won't be a big issue while the numbers are relatively small and there is plenty of non human food for them.

runsWphotons··on Most people think the U.S. crime rate is rising. They're wrong
Just to emphasize, indeed "look at the numbers". The gap between 2014 and 2022 is about 2/100,000--that is over 6000 people. This isnt some statistical anomaly---it is a real increase. Crime is going up.
runsWphotons··on Most people think the U.S. crime rate is rising. They're wrong
That chart shows exactly what I said, we have the highest rates since the mid 90s and there is a clear upward trend since 2014 (ten years ago now). Thats not "playing games"---its a lot more true than what the OP said.
runsWphotons··on Most people think the U.S. crime rate is rising. They're wrong
What I said is true, and what the op said is false and the stats you posted show this. What is actually misleading is saying something outright false like the OP. The homicide rate is higher than it has been since the mid 90s. People are worked up about crime increases because they have lived through the past 4 years and feel the tension.
runsWphotons··on Most people think the U.S. crime rate is rising. They're wrong
No they are higher than theyve been in like 30 years (since mid 90s). And they have been trending up for like 10 years, not just pandemic thing.
runsWphotons··on San Francisco’s rent prices have never returned to pre-2020 levels
20-25,000 murders per year. Around 40,000 fatal car crashes. Around 5-7000 fatal accidents involving pedestrians. Everyone excited about waymo but opposed to gun and knife wielding security robots.

Maybe we should ban knives too.
runsWphotons··on Food price hikes are no longer outpacing overall inflation
I am pretty dubious of this based on the age distribution of deaths (most were over 65 and 50-65 is the only bracket with large numbers who werent below retirement age--average is 61) but thank you for providing a counter argument with data.
runsWphotons··on Food price hikes are no longer outpacing overall inflation
The people who died would have mostly been retired or lower productivity. Shouldnt impact labor costs much. Age pyramid definitely would though.
runsWphotons··on The great cousin decline
Well, you have insurance, facilities, logistics. Local area matters a lot. For each family there should be some point, a little below the lower earners salary probably, where they'd rather just stay home themselves than pay for care. That will vary by income but I imagine the average price is a little below average woman earnings (usually but not always the lower earner still I think). That is basically what you can charge unless there is enough competition to bring the price down a lot. It doesnt sound like there is based on the prices people are claiming?
runsWphotons··on The great cousin decline
I suspect the equilibrium proce for childcare is like just under the average womans salary.

This is sarcasm.

There is also the fact that they nerfed it from the get go to some extent. So we know they have been working on it and also they had already expended a lot of effort to make it "safer" (and it probably is safer but also much more annoying and worse).
runsWphotons··on The housing shortage is larger than you think
Even if that happens, they will have plenty of housing. Worse things to make too much of abound.
runsWphotons··on The housing shortage is larger than you think
There are great new ideas here though like seizing all the beachfront vacation homes
runsWphotons··on The housing shortage is larger than you think
People have been saying this forever but their economy keeps going along and does not look like it will stop until a dmeographic crisis.
