I'm a passionate software engineer & artist in service of Life.
I've passionately committed myself for the last 11 years in search of the ultimate web technology. I've ended up building a CMS and programming framework for the Semantic Web. I'm launching this now as Semantu. It brings together Graph Database Technology, App building, Data visualization, Virtual Reality, Block-chain, Hand gestures, Multi dimensional story telling, Linguistic A.I. and others.
Above all my mission to reshape the internet so that it helps us to make sense of the world, helps us organize ourselves and helps us solve our biggest problems, together.

Ah yes that's what I was wondering. So Custom Elements are actually part of the Web Components standard, and it looks like it was already implemented in Chrome and Opera, works with a flag under Firefox and so now it has landed in Webkit / Safari, right? Besides Edge, and safari's support for HTML imports, it looks like Web Components implementation is slowly getting there. What about uses? Are there any popular webcomponents out there yet?
This looks really nice and well set up. I love the fact that you chose typescript and bundle a good definitions file. I totally understand homepage performance was not on the agenda yet, and its really no big deal to me, but I have to agree with others on the mobile support: this sadly crosses blueprint of my list for 99% of my work, if not all. Will be coming back to see where to project is going though!
Great to see TPP get a significant place in national politics. Im quite interested to see how the coalition talks will go. Their intended colaboration of the TPP, the Left-Green Movement, Bright Future, and Social Democratic Alliance is not going to work. The central right Independence Party is the biggest party so I guess it will probably be the first one to attempt to form a coalition. If they join with the new and also right-wing Regeneration they will have 28 of the required 32 seats, and then it's a question who else would join. Not sure if TPP would want to join two right wing parties? TPP and the left green movement have 20 seats together, so they'd need the Independency party (unlikely together with the Left green I suppose) or 2 other parties.
yes, which still leaves me wondering. the latest silicon transistors also use a lot less energy then they did just a few years ago right. So in what way does it compare to silicon transistors. Compared to 14nm? 10nm? Or in general? For transisters of the same size?
what if the nature of the physical universe has no other reason to be as it is other than mathematical consequences of harmonies, resonances, balances, etc? In other words: if all that exists follows mathematical law, doesnt that make math part of the existential?
Yes I'm wondering about this too. Say I want to build a windows application with electron, and I want to use geolocation or bluetooth, does the app need a module for each version of windows if I want to support multiple versions of windows? Or would it perhaps even be possible to generate the modules for the appropriate windows version on the fly from the app itself?
ah thank you for the summary of the licences. that moves inferno off the table for me too. sadly though, cause I was really getting interested with it being written in typescript.
agreed, if you want to keep things simple jQuery is still a nice tool and ES6 only makes it nicer to type, ES6 does not improve native DOM manipulation
looking at the chart there are plenty of places there was more increase in difficulty in 30 days. In the whole 2014 difficulty seemed to have multiplied 40 times! I understand the magnitude is a whole different story now though..
I'm an indy developer who travels & works at various places in the world. I'm often working a place deep in the jungle, where there is some electricity but no internet. Not being able to work if I don't connect to the internet within 30 days will indeed decrease my happiness with JetBrains big time :(
oh man, this makes me so happy. Two projects I really really enjoy are finally coming together without any hacks. I knew it could only be a matter of time - and I had it working with a little React.jsx(`<component />`) hack, but still, having the TS team implement it natively just makes it feel right. thanks to everyone involved! ... Can't wait till webstorm will fully support this with component property intellisense and everything. woot!
looking really nice. Specifically the toggle is something I was looking for. This looks like clean use of markup and proper setup of CSS with good docu. Will definitly embed this in the future, and looking forward to see even more components. good stuff!
nice idea. I stopped at the first question though. The answer that would correctly describe my average situation at a party involves a combination of 3 of the mentioned answers and probably 3 others that were not mentioned, so I doubt a test with 8 questions with each 8 answers can match me properly to someone that is very much like me.
I agree. As someone who just helped transition the main product of a company from polling towards socket.io + node.js, I can tell you the main name they know, somewhat understand and praise is "nodejs". To them that's the keyword to what made everything so quick and responsive. If I had to tell them at some point that actually nodejs was a bit behind and now we should move to io.js that would have been a bit confusing at least. Now, I can just be happy that "nodejs" will be the "awesome cutting edge tech" for me aswell as for them.
I liked his post "Why Energy Storage is About to Get Big, and Cheap". In this article he says that Tesla Storage is not quite cheap enough for most to buy on a purely cost-benefit basis, yet. But it will be in 3 to 5 years, if not sooner. I find that really exiting. I'm wondering if they will be able to keep the supply up with the demand once this really becomes a smart cost effective move for a lot of people. Even with the huge battery factory Tesla is building.
yes, this is a good question. I still have to implement drag and drop in a react project, and it seems the way to go is do this all through state? Which means none of the existing drag and drop solutions will work (any DOM manipulation without react knowing about it will cause trouble), and since react is relatively new there is seems there is still a need for good reusable animation components/mixins, and in the mean time, it's all a bit more manual work.
View, Text and Image should be cross-platform, and might even be targeted for web at some point. And more components could be. But they emphasised that you should be able to _choose_ how much code you want to re-use cross-platform, and that you should always put energy in targeting and perfecting for specific platforms
