rorykoehler··on Tax Planning 101: Buy, Borrow, Die
Time is the most important thing we have. That’s a major reason why prison is a deterrent. Practically everyone with significant capital trades it to gain more time. To deny this aspect of capitalism is straight up absurd.

Index funds are pretty low effort. Certainly nothing like Working 9-5 and more for 40+ years.
rorykoehler··on Tax Planning 101: Buy, Borrow, Die
I think we’re generally in agreement. Another consideration is that capital creation is controlled by the federal reserve or equivalent so supply is only as scarce as they say it is.
rorykoehler··on Tax Planning 101: Buy, Borrow, Die
Why does everyone want to have enough capital so they don’t have to work anymore?
rorykoehler··on Tax Planning 101: Buy, Borrow, Die
What’s disingenuous is mentioning both as if they are somehow equivalents
rorykoehler··on Tax Planning 101: Buy, Borrow, Die
That's a bit disingenuous considering the scalability and concentration of capital compared to labour. Regardless your point doesn't refute mine. Supplying capital reqires zero personal effort.

Capitalism is free riding by definition. Capital gets rewarded not work. It's even in the name.

Astroturfed by the Israeli social media mafia.

You can downvote this but it is well documented that the government unit that does this exists and the patterns are evident here.

Pretty much everything involves technology today. What was that famous quote? "Software will eat the world" or something like this?
rorykoehler··on Just 2% of workers at VMware showed up for the first day of in-person work
People are selling themselves short. Your salary and your cost of living aren’t connected. The value you deliver for the company is all that matters.

The thing is you treat it seriously. We have triple the daily cases here in Berlin and are celebrating like it’s over.

Same same but there is zero chance that an electric car doesn't have sufficient range in Europe and I imagine also in the vast majority of the US.
rorykoehler··on Audi will halt new gas and diesel cars by 2026
I think you’re missing the point. Maybe it’s worth it for you but if that is the case you’re in a niche of a niche.
rorykoehler··on Audi will halt new gas and diesel cars by 2026
The better measure is whether it is 0.00001% of trips? This argument is similar to me (a European) deciding not to buy a sedan because I can’t drive it through the Sahara desert. If I want to do that I’ll rent a fit for purpose car because I sure am not doing it often (or even twice in a decade).

rorykoehler··on Myths in cycling: wider tires are slower
I'm not spinning out but I am spinning faster than I can sustain / is efficient. I'm looking for the next gear basically. Spinning out is much faster and requires and descent (for me at least). Based on Strava I'm not that strong. Top 40% maybe. If I was racing I'd be cat 4. My observation is more to do with stronger riders than I am. Once you get to a certain speed/ftp all the considerations like rolling resistance, gearing, aero etc become much more obvious. If you are averaging 29.5km/h like in the test you might think optimisations don't make much difference but if you average 40kmh+ you will know they do.

They even note this in the article "If you ride much faster, then it’s possible that wider tires have a little more wind resistance, but the difference will be so small that it’ll get lost in all the other factors that influence your bike’s speed. On the other hand, if you ride slower, then the advantage of wider tires will be even greater."

rorykoehler··on Myths in cycling: wider tires are slower
I would imagine this would be considerable. Improving your aero position is the easiest way to go faster.

We also switched and I don’t miss slack anymore. Teams has been getting better by the day. Lots of features are worse than slack but many are also better, especially around video.
