Right, panic is pure emotion, fight or flight, hard be rational in that state. Covid19 is "sobering". 100 years since the 1918 flu and we still aren't ready. Even with the billions we spend on health care.

There was a comment on HN a few days ago basically saying, "what's wrong with panic, maybe we should be panicking" and I just found that comment frightening. We mock all the "idiots" buying up the toilet paper, but panic clouds the clear thinking of even the "intelligent". It can absolutely effect our leaders and medical professionals.

It's possible, the market jumps at every little bit of good news. Once we are on the other side of the curve, we'll see what happens.

Never had Allstate, but I had a similar experience with Amica. My auto premium increased every year despite no changes to my driving record. I called and the rep explained my policy was going up because of an accident from over 3 years ago.

I immediately dropped them, switched to another company and got a much lower rate. Added bonus, my premium drops every year or so.

The store I'm suggesting would contain commercial, non FOSS apps as well. There are some apps I use that will probably never be open source and there's no website version either.

For wider adoption, I think this would be necessary. Otherwise these phones will always remain a niche product.

Absolutely, but the news is causing a low level panic as they do report numbers, but don't emphasize what the numbers mean. I guess that's also the viewers fault as the math is grade school simple.

Yeah, I stopped worrying a few weeks back after I saw the mortality rate. It's basically a highly virulent flu with the same risk factors. Not on the same level as sars and the like.

I did this (4x10) for about a year at a previous company, really enjoyed it.

The hardest part was coming back after the 3 day weekend, it always felt like coming back from vacation.

I like companies like Sharetown, they help prevent things from just ending up in a landfill and they make money doing it. There's a computer recycling company near me that does pretty well reselling equipment sent to them for recycling. They destroy drives when instructed to, but will wipe the rest and resell intact running servers and workstations.

It's nice working with them because I know the equipment will most likely find a home.
