roflulz··on Apple avoids job cuts because it didn’t overhire like Google and Amazon
apple just fires continuously rather than letting dead weight stay at the company until a layoff gives management a way to finally let them go.
roflulz··on Bitwarden design flaw: Server side iterations
is apple keychain safer than all these 3rd party options now?...
roflulz··on What I learned at Gitlab that I don't want to forget
it seems like an easy way to create ambiguous bias to fire someone who is in the grey area before the Ritz Carlton. (i.e., I stayed at Motel 6, and this other person who I also hate stayed at the Holiday Inn - lets get rid of them)
roflulz··on Staff Engineer Archetypes (2020)
AMD and Intel and old semiconductor companies have always had titles like - "Engineer 1" "Engineer 2" "Senior Engineer" and then -> "Member of Technical Staff" above that. (Search MTS, SMTS, PMTS etc. on LinkedIn to see a million of them)
roflulz··on Vietnam to make Apple Watch and MacBook

roflulz··on Crypto firm Bitpanda lays off around 20% of its people
with Django (or other heavy opinionated frameworks targeting a CMS system), this seems like a ~3 hour project for a basic CMS.
roflulz··on Famines and Epidemics Trigger Wars
We did cause 1M deaths.... and our troops are still in Iraq.... you should be protesting Biden for maintaining the troops there still just as hard as Russia, and boycotting products sold by the US.
roflulz··on We Put Half a Million Files in One Git Repository, Here’s What We Learned
monorepo until it becomes too big -> then, splitting it into 2-3 repos, until each one also gets too big to manage...

roflulz··on ‘Biodegradable’ drinking straws contain PFAS
the waxes we should be using are the ones from plants and animals, and they degrade like any other organic compounds. paraffin wax is the petroleum derived ones - and yeah - we should try to ban those.
roflulz··on Military mulls recruiting plan to enlist college athletes
Iraq was still an illegal war where fake intel was used on purpose by leadership to mislead people.
roflulz··on Airbnb’s design to live and work anywhere
I know someone who became mentally ill when the bootcamp switched from in-person to remote and had enough stress to develop schizophrenia from the stresses of trying to apply for jobs remotely and alone in 2020.
roflulz··on We lost 54k GitHub stars
just do soft deletes that can be undone... seems so easy..
roflulz··on Reinstating our SAT/ACT requirement for future admissions cycles
isn't that already the case for all grades? and all extracurriculars? (i.e., picking teams that allow anyone to join, or giving students who couldn't make the cut a pity position on a team such as `team manager` so they can add it to their college application?)
roflulz··on Popular Tibetan singer Tsewang Norbu dies of self-immolation protest

roflulz··on New York Times tech workers vote to certify union

roflulz··on Goldman, Google and Just About Every NYC Employer Will Soon Have to Disclose Pay
Seems like this will cause unnecessary discord. But, overall, I'm happy for things to become more competitive - I do think we should have national lists that can be searched for how well you scored on the SATs and your high school GPA etc., all stack ranked against each other.
