rlili··on Is Everything an MLM? (2019)
The alternatives that you listed seem likely to eventually lead consumers to stop consuming a product. Population growth, on the other hand, does not.

Unless, of course, we reach the inevitable point where resources become so scarce that no one can consume anymore. But that future is still distant enough to be systematically ignored. Hell, even climate change is still being barely addressed.

rlili··on Is Everything an MLM? (2019)
Other commenters already stated that, but it's because achieving increasing profits ultimately relies on an increasing population to work and consume.

This is why, for example, people are always encouraged to have children. It's marketing to coerce people to reel more people (in that case, unborn people) into the scheme.

What's the difference between that and any other MLM?

> That’s what happens when an industry is fully enveloped by capitalism

Yep, I'd say that capitalism itself is an MLM.

rlili··on GraphJin – GraphQL to SQL Compiler
You don't necessarily have to put those claims into a JWT (other than the user ID). You can just store the "XYZ" that the user has into a table.
rlili··on GraphQL Is a Trap?
Unless you happen to be using PostgreSQL, in which case some tools like Hasura and Graphile can automate all of that.
rlili··on 2022 Data: Toxic Company Culture Is Fueling the Great Resignation
All of those things are orthogonal to workplace abuse.
rlili··on React Native for Windows is helping Settings improve more quickly
Hopefully! Chrome OS is very lightweight because everything uses the same underlying webview.
rlili··on [dead]
What's with the sudden influx of antivax submissions as of late?
rlili··on Best way to edit Overleaf Latex documents offline
The easiest way is through git. You'd get the git repository URL of the document, then clone it locally using git. After editing, you'd commit the changes and push them back to the repository.
rlili··on Pg_GraphQL: A GraphQL Extension for PostgreSQL
Does this work in YugabyteDB/CockroachDB?
rlili··on Spatial Keyboard Navigation
I use Vimium's hint navigation. Works great for most sites.
rlili··on Reactive Clojure: A web language
Coincidentally, Alephjs (https://github.com/alephjs/aleph.js) added a commit hours ago that also seems to solve this particular problem for React.

So now there's a React hook (useDeno) that takes a callback that is only executed on the server-side, and the returned value is sent back to the client side transparently.

rlili··on A universal system for decoding any type of data sent across a network
I can't help but think that this would be primarily used for censorship and breaking net neutrality.
rlili··on Web-based editor
Can't one just install the rust-analyzer extension inside a codespace? It worked for me.
rlili··on Why are people suckers for the Myers-Briggs, Zodiac signs?
What are the alternatives?
rlili··on Meritocracy and Its Defects
I think the point is that there are many people who believe that it is indeed Jim's fault. Such people often base that on meritocracy, which warrants the criticism.
rlili··on React Hooks vs. RxJS
Another interesting approach: https://github.com/recksjs/recks
rlili··on Google Docs will now use canvas based rendering
So Dark Reader won't work anymore. Great.
rlili··on As Amazon deforestation hits 12 year high, France rejects Brazilian soy
My understanding is that deforestation cannot be justified by potential economic growth.
rlili··on Never Ever Use NixOS
Perhaps the complaints are valid, but why not conclude that "the devs should fix this and that" rather than "never use it"?
rlili··on Every Model Learned by Gradient Descent Is Approximately a Kernel Machine
Why, aren't GPUs pretty useful in training SVMs as well?
rlili··on Slash GraphQL – The fastest way to build GraphQL apps
In my experience at least, building with Hasura can be very cumbersome, i.e. you need to edit multiple files or resort to the web UI. Importing or exporting schema is also very unintuitive.

In contrast to that, I love the idea of the database schema being just a graphql type definition file with annotations.

rlili··on WinApps: Run Windows apps in Linux as if they were a part of the native OS
So it's like reverse WSL2?
rlili··on Deprecate GraphQL Subscriptions over WebSockets in Favour of SSE/EventSource API
There's this: https://github.com/CodeCommission/subscriptions-transport-ss...

Although it doesn't seem to be maintained anymore.

rlili··on FAQ Off: An Open Source Project to Defeat Harassment Mobs and Disinformation
Cool project. Society desperately needs tools to combat disinformation.

But couldn't this tool also be used to spread it? Also, does it prevent circular reasoning?

rlili··on Theia: Cloud and Desktop IDE
I want to try switching to Theia from code-server, since it seems to offer a more polished web experience.

Unfortunately, I heavily rely on the VscodeVim extension, which doesn't work in Theia because it hasn't implemented some commands like "editorScroll" yet.

rlili··on Prisma 2.0 Beta: Type-safe Database Access
Is real-time subscriptions on the roadmap? It's the most killer feature of Hasura and Postgraphile IMO.
