I didn't wait years to buy the max spec model of a previous generation or something.
I'm well aware CPUs got better and whatever arguments people want to make.
None of this changes the fact that the initial 11" MBA was borderline obsolete from launch.
Sure, I can blame Chrome and JS, but ultimately, the core 2 duo and 8GB RAM did not keep up very long.
Edit: oh, boo, you fixed it.
I've not met any vegetarians in at least twenty years that eat fish.
Eg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COINTELPRO
I guess "other forces were worse" can certainly be true, but then how low are we holding the bar?
How can you tell the difference between an algorithm and topics genuinely being consistently unpopular, though?
> Would anyone be surprised if the agencies are themselves running bots, algorithms and accounts to affect visibility of discourse on threads like these?
On HN specifically? Yeah.
On actually popular platforms? No.
There's something about the sound, the smell, and the feeling once the last bean is ground, that just works for me.
Maybe some years ago I'd have chastised my future self for enjoying something I certainly couldn't identify in a blind test, but nowadays I'm all for "whatever works."
That said, "delicious" is definitely a matter of opinion.
Lots of European cheeses still use animal rennet, including several well known AOC (or PDO in English, I guess) ones with recognizable names.
I can check Wikipedia all I want but that doesn't make several of the cheeses I like to buy vegetarian.
I once got stopped at self checkout because I put two vegetables (peppers, IIRC) of different types in the same bag and weighed them together.
They were the same price so it's not like I was trying to pull a fast one one anyone, but "the system" noticed and flagged me for someone to come over.
This was pre-pandemic, and I'm sure they're not less capable now than before.
It's hard to not feel like the durability is decreasing.
People whose communities are affected? I think it'd be reasonable for them to expect more for it to be worth it.
Facebook (and Google as well, IIRC) prided themselves on how few people they needed to run the datacenter.
Maybe I'm jaded but "we created 50 jobs" just doesn't hit that hard.
TBH, I also had to do my own bit of googling because I barely drink alcohol to begin with, but it does look like "at the start", it's not very distinguishable from ethanol in taste and in effect.
So maybe the answer is water down the shots of your obviously drunk customers.
