I want to touch on this. "You" never have any control of your thoughts, because "you" isn't really a thing. Psychedelics and meditation teach us this if you pay close attention. The thoughts arise from nowhere and we - the imagined, but illusory - self are mere observers along for the ride that is consciousness.
I can imagine that using a substance such a psilocybin could cause your thought patterns to have both short and long term changes in quality (in terms of substance, not of superior gradation), however. It's also possible that your experience led to your paying greater attention to the thoughts that did arise, and over time the feedback loop of consciousness along with taking better care of yourself led to greater moderation of their genesis.
Or get assaulted or murdered, internet death pool style? All kinds of really fucked up incentives are created by these legalized betting apps.
It's capitalism, not laborism, or humanism. Those with the capital are who the system serves.
I mean, here it's late morning and I'm commenting on hacker news. And getting paid for it.
Maybe its China's turn to try to conquer the graveyard of empires.
Usually when people say things like "this is the final straw" it indicates anger.
You can read more on the former by searching "Xavier Musk" and/or "Vivian Musk".
Man who hates that his trans child hates him angry that the government isn't forcing trans children to tell their hateful parents they're trans.
If your children aren't comfortable telling you things like this, that's a failure of you as a parent. I'm not going to pretend there isn't social contagion or a bunch of teenagers questioning things out of peer pressure or that actual rates of transness are much lower than their visibility or a million other things. What I am saying is that if your kids are not comfortable talking to you about serious topics like this, you've failed as a parent. Your kids should know you'll love them no matter what and will support them in trying to build a happy life for themselves.
My friend's child believes they are trans, and while the parents are skeptical, there was never any doubt in that kids mind that their parents should know what they are going through and feeling or that they would love them no matter what.
The comment I was responding to was deriving moral law from a "standard form" and shaming those who were grown or educated in an alternative form. In fact not just shaming, but proclaiming the righteousness of discrimination based upon one's dialect.
A linguist or sociologist would describe that some form does get used and discrimination happens because of it. But they would not be prescriptive in either, and especially not the latter.
How about you leave your pre-modern prescriptive prejudice out of linguistics.
If you want to discriminate against people for how they speak, that's your prerogative, but it has nothing to do with linguistics as practiced.
But for Devops, build pipelines, etc. I prefer something a little more universally applicable and legible and that doesn't require a runtime. So bash is usually my approach there. Sometimes PowerShell if I know I'm going to be running it on a Windows box anyway.
Much as I love C#, if I came into an environment and all the Devops/CI/CD was done using Linqpad and lprun I'd immediately wonder what in the actual fuck I had gotten myself into, lol.
that was very easy to find
