It's more like 10% baked, but it sort of works. It's much better with GPT-3 but hasn't yet been submitted to OpenAI for approval, so that part is private. My priorities are improving the synthetic voices, adding additional dialog scenarios, and adding multiplayer mode either natively on the site or through bots that can be added to Discord voice channels.
If I ever achieve my dream of being a seasonal nomad, Vegas just might make the cut.
There hasn't been enough experimentation with geospatial social applications. (There was a lot back in the early 2010s but it petered out.) I'm currently working on an experimental chat app that creates Slack-like channels associated with a topic and a location. I'm looking for collaborators on this project (primary need is for designers and community-builders, but also programmers) so if it appeals to you please get in touch (HN-facing email in profile).
Is this true? Most human bodies (at least in the US) decompose in cemeteries (not exactly verdant ecosystems) or are burned. Plenty of other organisms will continue to die, there's plenty of carbon to recycle without human contribution.
> If/when you have reasonable solutions for overpopulation, massive resource consumption by advanced societies, and pollution, then we can talk about longevity.
We already have to solve these problems (well, except overpopulation, I don't think this is a real problem). I think it's reasonable for us to work on longevity in parallel, just as we work on curing cancer in parallel.
I love life (I've been fortunate to live in health and relative privilege) and would very much prefer an additional 150 years before eternal nothingness, assuming sound mind and body. It's not clear to me what spiritual downsides I would experience.
In contrast leveling up from the terrible "WIP WIP do the thing" to something slightly less awful takes maybe an extra 1-2 minutes per commit. And every time you do it you're doing your future self and future co-workers a huge favor.
- The US worships rich and successful businessmen in general.
- Facebook is the most powerful media empire the world has ever know. It could easily mobilize to support a Zuck campaign.
- His charisma and current reputation are obviously votes against him but reputation is malleable (see previous point re: media empire) and political training could probably go a long way.
The assumptions here are obviously strong and wrong but it does seem like "low millions" is probably the right order of magnitude.
Moreover we can expect highly-regarded companies like Facebook and Twitter to be bellwethers for the rest of industry. If their remote work experiments succeed, I suspect expansion will follow rapidly (I expect the reverse if they fail).
