qikInNdOutReply··on Tons of uranium missing from Libyan site, IAEA tells member states
Well, lets take north korea, it certainly is obvious by now that having a nuke stops getting bullied by the big players of the great game. Thoroughly rational strategy to gain them yourself.
qikInNdOutReply··on Testing GPT 4's code-writing capabilities with some real world problems
The reason is easy to imagine. Most non-programmers, are living like analphabets in a world were reading is valuable super power. They grudgingly accept this power assemtry, but ocassionally rebel - with "easier" visual programming languages made and excel.

This is another one of those rebellions, non-programers hoping to avoid reading the book and closing it for good, while keeping the awesome around. The code-bases we will see, were the commits are basically chatgpt tags and tasks for each document.

qikInNdOutReply··on Court of Versailles vs. the Wild West
The problematic parts of the court is in my opinion not the current flavour of social self aggregandization, but the priesthood of the holy cow that giveth the revenue stream. If at microsoft, all must be windows. If at google all compareth horribly to search. If at apple, does it look good and can be sold at store.

The company internal wild-west eco system continus to produce more often then not, but the priesthood feels attacked by the idea of other power centers, aka revenue streams emerging inside the company.

qikInNdOutReply··on Will AIs take all our jobs and end human history? It’s complicated
In all likelihood it will accelerate the monopolization built into our current system, so some Rockefela is about to emerge, that owns it all. With a private public plaza on which the bots sing him praises and any discussion on change is drowned out by machine generated dissent. So, the situations vectors are already there, just the speed will increase.
qikInNdOutReply··on EPA moves to limit toxic 'forever chemicals' in drinking water
To which company are the machines and territories sold too, and who owns the majority stake of the "spin" out company?

I have heard that so often, that this or that technology is faded out in the car industry, and in reality, that just ment, the factory is carefully dissasembled, shipped to some 2nd world or 3rd world country, reassembled and buisness just continus or more often then not, actually expands. Fridges, diesel cars, you name it.

qikInNdOutReply··on Britain’s economic record since 2007 ranks near the bottom among peer countries
Brexit has a conotation as being anti-foreigner, but it actually was also a "Anti-London-Elite" campaign, who is largely behind the focus of the whole country on becoming one huge tax fraud financial haven.

Its the voters right, to try to regain control of his/her country, by rejecting those that take it for a undemocratic spin, no matter how clever that hijacking is marketed.

England suffers from a resource curse, the resource being its ex-empire and the financial connections of the comon wealth.

qikInNdOutReply··on How to tell if AI threatens YOUR job
Which just means, AI needs more data points for architects. What pages did you open in the code-base, what did you read, what changes did you suggest, what different approach did you choose.

qikInNdOutReply··on Russian Assets Reportedly Seized at Baikonur Cosmodrome by Kazakh Authorities
Yes, the whole salami slice expansion method seems to be designed, to use other diplomats as an abblative layer for empire expansion. Basically using your oponents wish for peace to slowly expand creeping.

And there is a whole diplomat generation standing by to be useful idiots again if not an example is placed like a statue every 3 generations.

qikInNdOutReply··on Russian Assets Reportedly Seized at Baikonur Cosmodrome by Kazakh Authorities
What is not yet visible, but might be a bringer of future conflict, is the many turk nations that could form a federation of there own. Turkey, Aserbaidschan , Turkmenistan and the Uighurs even, could form quite a mini-union themselves. If they manage for once to be at piece with all the other ethnicities they traditionally supressed similar to the russians.
qikInNdOutReply··on Russian Assets Reportedly Seized at Baikonur Cosmodrome by Kazakh Authorities
Concern does not equal the ability to prevent or master a situation. Putin was also concerned with aquiring ukraine. Between that dictator impersonating aparatschik, the ground is liquifying as we speak.

Hungary is doing alot of things right, not politically, but economically its becoming one of the industrial powerhouses of the EU.
qikInNdOutReply··on Russian Assets Reportedly Seized at Baikonur Cosmodrome by Kazakh Authorities
This seems to be a weakspot of alot of ideological groups in the west(left/right) but also in the east(ccp), the assumption that one can just "sing" a version of reality into beeing by loudness. What is usually archieved is a placation act, by which the lower status parties involved pretends to kotau, but then gets on with its own life in its own style, with the calmed priesthood.

Its a very strange state of affairs. For objective, measurable scientific reality to be experienced, this process is completely orthogonal. Its better to know what is, even if unpleasant or stressfull, then only to find out at the breaking point?

Thats what happens, when all you got to hold the band together is terror instead of soft power. Everyone just quits at the first sign of weakness.

qikInNdOutReply··on Crab crisis in Bering Sea a sign of ‘borealization’
Which is why i advocate for ecological transplants. Take a snippet of a warmer zone and transfer it in a greenhouse with a open door, to a "new" candidate zone. Spread existing diversity and keep it, instead of reinventing it after a million years.
qikInNdOutReply··on Over 100 kids illegally employed in hazardous jobs, contractor pays $1.5M fine
That sounds like a sentence one could utter at every crime committed. Mob boss before court. This. Following orders at nuremberg. This. Fiduciary duty beets all other duties i guess.
qikInNdOutReply··on Catholic Group Spends Millions on Dating App Data to Out Gay Priests
Goto love contract cults. Woman searches for men with reliable anti-gay emotional reaction. Then transfers social power to a contract-cult they bully gay men into, to uphold the one contract they actually care about: marriage | social support aka as a civilizational framework.

Almost 2000 years of stagnation and missery ensue.

Now a new contract cult is in town. Its actually more liberal and less stuck up. It has all the same features of the old, including parades and dogmatic screeching, but a little less violence & enforcing gender norms. All hell breaks loose.

Admitted this contract cult instance has men holding the bag a bit, but still to have the old contract cults go into this "Inquisition" for potential runaway servants is ridiculous.

Also noticeable, this only applies to "bad" times. As long , as there is a surplus for everyone, nobody gives a ** about "morals". Justice is only needed when push comes to shove.

edit: Downvote all you want, the reality of us as a retarded species does not go anywhere fast..

qikInNdOutReply··on Update to the “Samsung space zoom moon shots are fake”
For historians its a catastrophe. After 2023, the good old roman source poison assumation is back in full effect. He who is in power can actually rewrite history. Assume everyone uses written documentation just to proof loyalty to the current computational power holder.

Truth will become something similar to the roman emperors history, a million comments, blog articles condemning past rulers and CEOs as wrong all along, while praising the current instance, with similar spam in the forgotten archives.

A species ruled by madmen, one worser then the other. Praise be on the Bezos, who undid the mad world that reigned before.

qikInNdOutReply··on My mindfulness practice led me to meltdown (2021)
The rewritting of what has actually percieved and what has happened, after it happened as a inability to act, is for many a enigma. Otherwise you wouldnt regularly get this stammered stories in front of some judge after traffic accidents. The idea, that cause and effect, could be rewritten by your visual system to keep its story straight, even after a failure, is quite the enigma in my eyes.
qikInNdOutReply··on Rovio delists original Angry Birds from PlayStore because it's still too popular
I actually think there is a function of whales, not yet explored. Dont try to milk them with items. Make them gatekeepers. They get to decide who plays the game, who gets to enter, and who gets to stay. Sounds strange, but if they keep the thing afloat, they might aswell have a total say on that.
qikInNdOutReply··on Most young men are single. Most young women are not
>So it's somewhat bleak future, but not grim nor unchangeable. It's just (some) men got behind and it'd be nice if there'd be help for them to catch up.

So civil war buddies? We could share a trench, you will be the sniper, i will be the spotter?

qikInNdOutReply··on Poisoning web-scale training datasets is practical
I imagine, some sort of fractal pocket dimension, capable to hypnotize a Neural Network. Like a sort of sphinx of all answers, a TRIZ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRIZ like system claiming to have content for all the problems, occuring again and again, because its optimized to cuddle to the reward function.. This is fascinating concept.

We will have to geo engineer large areas, to hold to water longer. Im thinking of storing water, in hidden cisternlakes on mountain tops/hills, drip irrigating the surrounding eco system, repumping rivers bake into the eco system.
qikInNdOutReply··on Humans Who Are Not Concentrating Are Not General Intelligences (2019)
? This headline is ascientific nonsense.

Humans consist of mostly subconcious subprocesses who ocassionally may guide the self-awareness decoration homunkuli on top into "ilusions of self-importance".

Ironically a time we concentrate the most, the subconciousness of it all can be felt almost directly.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(psychology)

But the subconcious may be active and working, if not under pressure to focus. All that is important, is to ocassionally think about the endgoal/question and thus keep the reward gates for continous processing open.

The main reason for meddle management existence is a recursive loop.
