pskittle··on An Investor Wanted to Give Me $50,000. Here’s Why I Said No
This reminds me of my first ever job interview. I was enrolled in tech+management program at a decent university and as a part of the curriculum you're required to do an internship over summer. Our career counselor advised us to get informational interviews with people working in organizations we liked. Excited to learn about a particular organization and how they function , My class mate and I decided to schedule some time with a person in the senior management . After a few email exchanges We set a time for 3pm in the afternoon on a weekday. On said day my friend and I were waiting outside his lobby by 5 minutes to three to create a sincere impression. He wasn't in his office. As we waited for him to come , we chatted about how it would go and asked each other about a list of questions we had for him . I was slighty nervous as it was my first ever interview. He walked the corridor towards his office and As soon as the three of us made eye contact I introduced myself and my friend. The first thing immediately after that he said to me was "you reminded me of my ex wife Alicia, the mistake I almost made and how his current wife wouldn't like him telling me this". My mind was like what the hell is going on? Is this normal small talk. I was studying abroad so wasn't sure about the culture and it being my first interview in life didn't help either. I just let his comment slide and brought back the focus to his organization. He did end up offering us internships but i decided to work with someone else. He is since promoted to a more senior position in that organization. I just don't get why grown adult men behave in such ways.

pskittle··on Startup Priorities
So peter theil talks about building monopolies which are a union of different markets. How do you identify different metrics in such cases?
pskittle··on China
"whether or not it’s possible for one country to remain as powerful as another with four times as many people"

I don't understand why one country whether it's the US, china or otherwise has to dominate the world.Assuming that shitty tradeoffs are made to get there, I wish there was a world country of some sort that dominated in the near future. Otherwise it seems to me like there are going to be many sony like episodes that just do more harm than good.

pskittle··on US Healthcare Is So Screwed I Fly to Britain for My Medication
I studied in the US for a bit, inspite of the university having a decentish setup for medication. I preferred getting treated by local doctors in my home country. Studying about the healthcare system in the US makes me sad. It shouldn't be so painful and expensive

pskittle··on Suggestions for engineering recruiters in Bay Area?
1. Go to meetups/hackathons/dev conferences. 2. Hire directly by talking to people you meet there. 3.Engineers have a strong aversion towards HR people and are more likely to pay attention to the founders or early hires. 4.Hire remotely ---> your talent pool increases dramatically
pskittle··on Why I hate Google, or some thoughts about “open” technologies
I'm sorry you cant access udacity. use vpn or get hola (a free chrome plugin)
pskittle··on Cofounder management
I was helping a close friend grow and build out his startup idea. i've known him for a while and we're still pretty tight. However along the way i realized that i wasn't into it as much as he was . the problem we were solving didn't bother me at a cellular level. Even though ive known him for a while it took me quite a bit of time to be upfront about it (i didn't wanto hurt his feelings) but as soon as we had a talk about it it was cool.

you make fair points. However the most common advice you get is , "focus on user experience". Most domain experts focus more on the tech as opposed to users. Also some of the great/successful startups have been started and run buy people who've never done it before.
