psbp··on A First Look at How Google's Self-Driving Car Handles City Streets
The last few struck me a few years ago when this was first announced. The first company that rolls these out will have so much power over commerce in general. I can imagine Google offering a service to help optimize those kinds of variables for businesses and consumers alike.
psbp··on An open letter to Eric Schmidt from Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Axel Springer
It's funny that your archaic quote undermines your point.
psbp··on TechCrunch covered Vic Gundotra's departure badly
"That number is inflated by adding YouTube users"

They specifically bifurcate the two types of users. There's ~500 million if you count the G+ interactions through youtube and other apps.

psbp··on The Government is Silencing Twitter and Yahoo, and It Won't Tell Us Why
Why doesn't the hacker community lionize this guy as much as they do Snowden?
psbp··on Project Ara – Google's modular phone project
Moto X.
psbp··on How Mike Judge and Co. Are Turning "Silicon Valley" Into the Next "Spinal Tap"
I think almost the opposite relationship can be explored. What is the normal world's relationship to a bunch of people trying so hard to "Think Different"?
psbp··on Google Now for Chrome
It's the standard hamburger style menu found across android. Maybe it would be difficult if it wasn't in every Google android app.
psbp··on Google Now for Chrome
I've been using it for years and I've either never had these problems or they haven't been so bad that I would consider it broken. Isn't a time to home card usually valuable?
psbp··on Google+ Hangout with Vint Cerf – starts at 2PM EST
Just tuned in to see Leo crying. I guess it was some pretty profound stuff.
psbp··on Steve Jobs wasn't even okay with Google hiring former Apple engineers
I've read all the released documents, I get the impression that most of this was instigated by Jobs. Sure they played along for this purpose, but the threats and escalation started with the Job's emails in 05.
psbp··on Microsoft Should Have Acquired Oculus Rift, Not Facebook
Facebook has been much more flippant with privacy policies and their use of data than Google has ever been. I only see unfavorable comparisons of google to facebook on HN and it really baffles me. It couldn't be farther from the truth.
psbp··on Facebook shares fall 7% on Oculus deal
I didn't mean mad literally. I meant the intent that you mentioned.
psbp··on Facebook shares fall 7% on Oculus deal
Maybe investors are mad about their shares being diluted through these stock deals?
psbp··on Google I/O 2014
I wonder if Google has plans for a competing VR to the rift.
psbp··on Steve Jobs's response after getting a Google employee fired.
When you learn the slogan.
psbp··on Facebook conference call about acquiring Oculus
It's still important to feel your stomach churn when you hear Zuckerberg talk about his "mission"
psbp··on Facebook acquires Oculus VR
I'm not sure how true this is, but I recently watched an anti-google documentary about their book-scanning business and they said sources familiar with Larry Page claim that he had no interest in Google as a business but rather was attempting to achieve advanced AI through Google.
psbp··on Facebook’s $2B Oculus deal happened over the last five days
"Zuckerberg explained that he felt that Oculus represented an entirely new post-PC and post-mobile platform."

He's probably right. While Google and others are focusing on half-baked wearables as their key to the future, facebook just bought a huge chunk of the most likely successor.

psbp··on It Is Time For Basic Income
Let assume that these kinds of investments actually lead to something: http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2014/03/21/zuckerberg-musk-inves...

Maybe not immediately, but 10, 20, 50 years? Good luck.

psbp··on Revelations of N.S.A. Spying Cost U.S. Tech Companies
It's been like this for a long time. A controversy will feed itself, the actual issues won't as easily be stuck in perpetuity.

Even history is taught like this.

psbp··on Larry Page: I’d Rather Leave My Billions to Elon Musk Than to Charity
And it's not like Page isn't interested in health: https://plus.google.com/+LarryPage/posts/Lh8SKC6sED1

In the context of this quote: "You’re working because you want to change the world and make it better; if the company you work for is worthy of your time, why not your money as well? We just don’t think about that. I’d like for us to help out more than we are."

His philosophy could make sense.

psbp··on Google to reportedly kill Voice, integrate it into Hangouts
You can't brag about it on HN.
psbp··on US tech giants knew of NSA data collection, agency's top lawyer insists
Why single out Page and Google?
psbp··on Android coming to wearables
Selling info is a misnomer.
psbp··on Android coming to wearables
Aren't Google's ad monetization practices fairly transparent? You can see all the data collected in the dashboard, you can see how ads are targeted under the ad settings.

It seems like people are alluding to Google's data usage as some sort of black box where it seems pretty open to me.

psbp··on Android coming to wearables
Yeah, I guess it makes you sound like a tool, but I'm not sure what unique phrase would work better.
psbp··on Android coming to wearables
I've never heard anyone say "search for it", but rather "google it".
psbp··on Google Hangouts, Gmail Chat and Google Spreadsheets Go Down
30 minutes out of a year is less than .1%
psbp··on Google Reader announced its shutdown exactly a year ago
Why does everyone ignore the prevalence of free RSS readers when Google reader came along?
psbp··on Google’s Schmidt Says Inequality Will Be Number One Issue For Democracies
The problem is that we're not talking about a safety net anymore, but a solution for a permanent reduction in the workforce. That's something entirely different, more daunting, and perhaps unsolvable.
