postscapes1··on 'You Can See Everything' Review: Nathan Fielder's Doc About Elizabeth Holmes
Sorry thought it was paywalled. The timing before jail makes sense, but then the partner using Fielder and team for this? I suppose all of it makes perfect sense if you just suppose her and her immediate people are nutjobs
postscapes1··on 'You Can See Everything' Review: Nathan Fielder's Doc About Elizabeth Holmes
Is she not in jail right now?

Also why in her right mind would she sign up to do this with Fielder?

My brain hurts from this project.

postscapes1··on Sweden goes back to basics, swapping screens for books in the classroom
That Source: drop of 10 kids is one of the best I have ever seen on the Internet. Sending respect your direction as a Dad of 3
postscapes1··on Guilty Displeasures
Dogs - I know they are good for humanity with getting their owners for walks, loyalty, etc. But have no idea how people get hooked on them with the picking up hot feces and 25% chance of getting a barking/jumping lunatic that you have to rearrange your life every 6 hours around their bathroom habits...
postscapes1··on The Jeff Dean Facts
I am only semi technical so most of these go right over my head, but after watching a ton of Jeff Dean interviews, etc it is really fun to see how a 10-100x engineer can operate over such a long career (while seemingly a normal and kind person to boot)
postscapes1··on Gemini 2.5 Flash Image
This is what i came here to find out. Thanks.
postscapes1··on Withnail and I (2001)
Amazing flick that just sticks with you for some reason - I wish we had more the these black comedies.
postscapes1··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (April 2025)
This is great idea - I have a huge tree in front yard that will either cost be $5-10k to come down or was going to rent lift and do it myself - A few particular branches scare me though in terms of how they will come down... Bonus points for where to tie things off.
postscapes1··on Plasticlist Report – Data on plastic chemicals in Bay Area foods
I wish they would have been more concentrated with their approach versus this spray and pray route (ie test chick-fil-a from different parts of the country and done it 1000 times so customers could actually impact a change to the biggest offenders). Would happily pay to crowdsource a much bigger project here.
postscapes1··on Splash pads are fountains of fecal material; CDC reports 10K illnesses
After seeing how many porta potties at playgrounds never have their hand sanitizer filled, I have come to grips with fecal matter being a part of the gig
postscapes1··on We created a fake delivery company to get a job
Bravo. After all this and using the tool what are some takeaways on ai and how it will disrupt (or not) these very same companies?
postscapes1··on I mapped almost every USA traffic death in the 21st century
I have been looking for something like this. To clarify it doesn't show pedestrians or bikes hit by cars? ( I live near a stretch of road that I know has several white bike memorials but this does not see to not have them there..)
postscapes1··on Can we talk to whales?
Just listened to a podcast episode where they discussed this David Eagleman and Aza Raskin

https://pca.st/episode/3185257d-11b6-4d9a-ac9e-fea9531d491f

"If we meet extraterrestrials someday, how will we figure out what they're saying? We currently face this problem right here at home: we have 2 million species of animals on our planet... and we have no Google Translate for any of them. We’re not having conversations with (or listening to podcasts by) anyone but ourselves. Join Eagleman and his guest Aza Raskin to see the glimmer of a pathway that might get us to animal translation, and relatively soon."

postscapes1··on Time to subsidize e-bikes?
I wish Denver (I live here) and other cities would just start their own subsidized bike networks to compete with Lime and Uber bikes.
postscapes1··on 200-year old heat pump technology is back
Just as a heads up. Make sure you get a real pro to do the sizing on your unit.

I put in two Mitsubishi H2i systems last year and have had some pretty insane energy bills due to sizing them too large (A general overview of why here: https://carbonswitch.com/heat-pump-sizing-guide/)

Once I get my solar in place I won't feel too bad about this, but for now has been a bummer as was expecting a real efficient beast.

postscapes1··on Ask HN: Do you measure and/or mitigate CO2 in your living space?
Any names you can recommend for something like this?
postscapes1··on What comes up when you flush
I wish there were more modern thinkers like Zizek.
postscapes1··on Ask HN: Do you measure and/or mitigate CO2 in your living space?
Aranet 4.

Determined my kids rooms are big culprit with doors closed. (Up to 1400 at night) now keeping door open.

I doubt this will fly when they are older so looking into installing an ERV/HRV system if anyone has any recommendations.

postscapes1··on Launch HN: MovingLake (YC S22) – Real-time data connectors for almost anything
Can you do a stack for web design? (GA, web form tool, airtable/notion, webflow/framer, newsletter service). I just want all my shit synced up without having to duct tape it together with Zapier...
postscapes1··on Ask HN: How did you stop drinking?
+1 on Just the Hazy by Sam Adams - It would pass a blind taste test and everyone I have had try it likes it.

Another good brewery: https://rationalebrewing.com/

Guiness even offers a non alcoholic now that isn't bad.

I think Athletic is way overrated compared to the above though and wouldn't start there.

postscapes1··on First-time fathers show longitudinal gray matter cortical volume reductions
Dad of three young kids here.

Brain is definitely different.

So much of the disruption is dependent on your kids personality, any medical issues (and sleep).

If I had 3 clones of each kid and their personality my stress would range from minimal:

"this parenting thing is amazing with some difficult moments and changes of rhythm"

To if I had three clones of the middle child, I would be losing my complete mind.

postscapes1··on Photopea: A Photoshop clone web app
+1 This tool is amazing.

I also heard Neil Patel on a podcast saying he tried to acquire it for $10M+ and the developer declining the offer

postscapes1··on Investigating the effects of bike lanes in Minneapolis
Where in Denver is this? Am local here and most of the city is dismal for biking safely with kids
postscapes1··on Brickit – scans your Lego bricks and helps you build new creations
Looking forward to trying this with my 6 year old. Not sure if already baked in but suggestion would be for it to enter ID of a set you know you have in the pile and help you put it back together again...
postscapes1··on Two California hikers found a family's message in a bottle and helped save them
To be fair, the article mentioned the search team used night vision goggles and FLIR (forward looking infrared) technology :)
postscapes1··on Startups from Y Combinator’s S19 Demo Day 2
After a quick browse through lists on both days:

- Where have all the IoT companies gone?

- Cool seeing machine learning being used inside applications (The audio analyzer to separate and boost voices for conference calls comes to mind)

- Surprised at how many "meh" reactions I had. Too many grocery/fashion and not enough bio/energy game changers and I left feeling mostly uninspired by overall visions.

More power to everyone hustling out there though.

postscapes1··on As crime dries up, Japan’s police hunt for things to do (2017)
Article by Noah Smith on this. It's way hgher than I would have expected. https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2019-07-30/u-s-ec...
postscapes1··on Show HN: LessPhone – A minimal Android launcher to reduce phone use
I use this in combination with turning off Google's automatic News page on the phone to drastically reduce my *get on the phone for something specific and proceed to get sidetracked rate (barring Twitter where I am a degenerate addict..)
postscapes1··on How to parent more predictably (2018)
This is what we do.

We have "thinking timeouts" where we got to their room or somewhere quiet with them and sit with them until they are calm enough to think

postscapes1··on No Thank You, Mr. Pecker
This was my first thoughts as well.

Very strange writing style "complexifier", "back to the story" multiple times.
