ponector··on Suits Are Better Tech Than Modern Clothes
I'm sure stunts are done in suits not made with ballistic material!
ponector··on Suits Are Better Tech Than Modern Clothes
It's possible! Like a suit John Wick is wearing. They are actually doing stunts in suits.
ponector··on September 2026: The world today, as seen by one Polish guy
Because bad and tragic news happens fast and sells well.

Tragedy in Nepal was everywhere for a week. Advances in vaccination? Diseases cure? Green energy? Not much because it's very slow news.

If russia is strong why their advance has stalled? Snail's pace for the last few years.

So advanced military - they use civil vehicles for assault operations.

So strong they lost the control of the Black sea to the country with no navy.

ponector··on Coding is not solved
I worked for a reinsurance company and their main pricing tool is a huge brittle excel file full of spaghetti VBS code. And yet, they manage to underwrite billions.
ponector··on There are no "rogue" AI agents
You can be arrested for literally anything. Law is necessary for the court to write a sentence.
ponector··on There are no "rogue" AI agents
If you steal a phone you go to prison. If you steal a billion you become a president.
ponector··on Unsealed Briefs in Authors’ Case v. Microsoft/OpenAI
I dream of the end of paid or forced human labor. People should do whatever they want. I bet no one wants to commute to the crowded office for another teams call.
ponector··on Excel now supports multiple values in a single cell
Some people even make art in it! Incredibly flexible tool!
ponector··on We're gonna need a lot more mathematicians
Are you willing to pay for a lot more mathematicians?

Or it as with other professionals: shortage means shortage of cheap labor.

ponector··on Zelensky says Russia has widened attacks to hit Ukraine's data centres
Check how many power plants, how many dams, how many book producing facilities, how many theatres are being destroyed by each side. It's clear who has started a new round and continue genocidal war. Russians had tried to erase Ukrainian etnic identity for centuries.
ponector··on Toyota is taking the Corolla electric
I bet if given a choice they would prefer to drive a new Lexus instead.
ponector··on Toyota is taking the Corolla electric
I wouldn't say 2005 Toyota is an analog car. For sure it has a computer, some entertainment unit.

Most of the people are upgrading such cars to get at least Bluetooth capabilities.

ponector··on Toyota is taking the Corolla electric
No one actually wants highly analog car. Also it's illegal to sell in most countries. Mandatory cameras, safety features, emergency assistance etc
ponector··on There's a high chance of devices being sold with GrapheneOS preinstalled in 2027
You can buy new Pixel 7 quite cheap and install grapheneOS there.
ponector··on I don't want to read what you didn't write
Then you should push everyone to talk like a caveman. It really saves time and tokens.

But there is a reason no one is talking that way...

ponector··on I don't want to read what you didn't write
I have 300 bits of information in rude direct form with some obscene language as well. I ask LLM to wrap it into a nice polite message. Resulted 1000 bits are sent in the email.

I bet no one would like to get direct rude "source" instead.

ponector··on Sherline Tools Is Going Out of Business
>> traditional manufacturing has a robust tradition of apprenticeship and training on the job.

We also have such tradition. Senior software engineers are teaching juniors.

Would tradition manufacturing employ an apprentice without knowledge about the tools and materials? I doubt that. Everyone now wants to get a senior employee with 20y of experience and pay junior rates.

ponector··on BYD Slashes Price of Electric Car and Becomes Cheapest in Australia [video]
Historically, base model for the US market had more features than base European trim. I guess the same applies for Japan. Also taxes are different, obviously.
ponector··on Sherline Tools Is Going Out of Business
>> it's not Youtube influencer level cool and industry relies increasingly on older generations

Usually it means the pay is crap, the schedule is bad and nobody is willing to invest into training. Why should young people select such career?

ponector··on BYD Slashes Price of Electric Car and Becomes Cheapest in Australia [video]
And 1974 Corolla for $2500 was the same, I guess.

GR Corolla is much better and faster than any supercars of 1970s. Compare price of it with original Countach!

ponector··on BYD Slashes Price of Electric Car and Becomes Cheapest in Australia [video]
New Corola is advertised at $25k. Fair price considering how many features you get vs 1974 car.
ponector··on More than 100k people in Japan are now aged 100 or older
Imagine if in the best scenario Japan is going to stop borrowing. Reducing the population will drive debt ratio up. Good luck to the next generation, say thank you to your grandparents who borrowed from you.
ponector··on More than 100k people in Japan are now aged 100 or older
Has any country really tried?

To have multiple kids you need bigger house, more stuff and more time.

To have 2+ kids you either neglect them or should become stay at home parent. It's only for rich, for families who can comfortably live on one salary.

The other thing is time: people who want many kids want to spend time with them, not at work. But without work they cannot afford kids. Catch-22.

ponector··on Why I'm still bearish on LLMs after Navier-Stokes
How about supersonic flight?
ponector··on My business partner sent a 5K vibe-coded PR that he didn't even test
Pretty much anyone can volunteer and became an UAV drone operator in Ukraine. Get an experience you'll use in the WW3!
ponector··on How well do agents use test/verification techniques?
Unfortunately for the users, testing has been pushed to them. You can deploy whatever slop you want - nobody cares. More lines of code!
ponector··on How well do agents use test/verification techniques?
Most developers are not good at testing. That's why the role of test engineer exists.

I've seen in multiple projects things like assertTrue(true).

I'm sure the agent is better in testing than average enterprise developer.

ponector··on De-Brainrot Vacations
It was perfect when the only way to connect to the internet was a computer.

Smartphones ruined it.

ponector··on Bug Blindness
>> post the 100 bugs I hit that week.

But nobody cares. Posting bugs is mostly pointless, it's wasted time. Nowadays even for paid products quality is not a priority.
